Alex, my first High Noon bloom opened today, just three days after Oscar's High Noon. I cannot believe that I am only three days behind Thinking Oscar is in a different temperature zone. Then it is possible that my neighbourhood is not even zone 5b. Confused

Mine High Noon opened too, but it was in the pot.:)

YT started to open today. The fragrance is intoxicating.

I went to Edwards Gardens today and their peonies are blooming - whatever is left. They got rid of most of their peonies last year and are trying to create a "natural" habitat of local plants. A theme of my rant in the future. Shima Nishiki's were nice, though.

Alex, your YT is wonderful.. How sad about the gardens removing that many peonies. It seems a balance of natives and plants that thrive in your area would be beneficial. I understand the need for native species, but peonies, besides being gorgeous, are also great for pollinators. Honeybees, bumblebees and butterflies all partake in my home garden and the public garden I help out with.

By the look of these buds I'm pretty confident now I'll get to see this season the random pattern of white and red streaks of Shima-Nishiki. I'm so eager I can barely wait. I think I deserve it after 3 years of patient wait, getting only red blooms. At some point I started doubting this was Shima-Nishiki.

Rey, they are magnificent blooms! Glad you are getting the red/white blooms. It took mine years to start blooming that way too!

Thank you Tracey 🙏 I think all the merit is almost solely on the plant, I'm a terrible gardener 😔 I'm very pleased to realize that at least the most common varieties of TPs are surprisingly tough and vigorous plants almost like regular garden peonies
