My first tree peony bloom ever! Shimane Chojuraku, which I just received from Cricket Hill last fall. It put on about 14" of growth and a 10" side branch (with a still-closed bud). Such a surprise after a hard Minnesota winter.

@ST52, are the "others in bloom" named varieties? Lots of bloom on shapely plants. Do you prune much in fall?

I went to Edwards Gardens today and their peonies are blooming - whatever is left. They got rid of most of their peonies last year and are trying to create a "natural" habitat of local plants. A theme of my rant in the future. Shima Nishiki's were nice, though.
...

Isn't that horrible? They have so much space in Edwards Gardens. I attended one of their lectures a while ago, before covid. Apparently, they did a test and they found high (or superior!) insect diversity. I cannot think of any rational reason to get rid of their tree peonies. D'Oh! Grumbling Bad idea!

My Chines and Japanese woodies are finishing blooming.
Thanks to cold weather, Hoki developed beautiful red colour that I had never seen before Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Usually, by the end of May, Hoki's flowers were burnt by strong sunlight.

The Colourful Butterfly surprised me with a flower again. It was planted two years ago, so I didn't expect it to bloom for a year a two. However, you could tell this is not a mature bloom, but I appreciate trying Lovey dubby It starts in many shades of pink, and it fades. Very cute Lovey dubby

Last but not least, the pink NOID, which was bought as Hana Kisoi. However, after my recent visit to the Oshawa Peony Festival, I realized that this is not Hana Kisoi. I have an idea of what this might be. When I bought it from Canadian Tire, this peony was very weak, but it is getting more robust. It almost doubled in size since last year. No matter what, this plant wants to bloom Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby I hope that we will see bigger and fuller flowers next year Crossing Fingers!

Due to work schedule, I fell a little behind. I am glad that I have the opportunity to view the posts today. WOW! I am just blown away by all the beauty and abundance of blooms in everyone's gardens.

Oscar, Tracey, and ST52, you grow tree peonies that I can only dream of. Your shrubs are just magnificent. I tip my hat to you. I tip my hat to you. Tracey and ST, love love your seedlings! I can't get enough of them! I keep going back looking at your seedlings.

Rey, your red TP is gorgeous! Love its huge size and double form. Your Kamata Nishiki is very beautiful too! I love that combination of color. I hope that your Shima Nishiki will give you a stripe bloom this year.

Jasmin, beautiful blooms from TPs this year. I always enjoy seeing your Snow Lotus. I am glad your Hoki blooms in good weather so that you can see its blooms at its best. I am also lucky to be blessed with really great weather for my peonies this year.

Alex, what a treat to see your YT! Love its beautiful foliage and pink flowers. You and Tracey got me hooked on YT now. I hope Solaris Farms will offer it for sale this year.

Ian, Shimane Chojuraku is gorgeous! Congrats on your first flower!

Though I was not impressed with the Duchess before, I am now. ST, your flowers and pictures above are good reasons enough to grow this cultivar. THis year, I finally get some good blooms from the Duchess that are picture worthy. I think it has finally hit its stride. Smiling Smiling

Oscar, what a show your TPs put out this year! I am just in awe! It seems the blooming season flew by so fast. Did you get any blooms on your seedlings?

Tracey, I agree Eternal Spring has a striking color!
