OOPS!! Almost lost my husband in the cannas!!! They are out of control entirely.....lol. I just love 'em, but may move them to along the fence for next year, lest they hide the house! I told my hubby that we'll be the only ones with "canna shocks" this fall when others have corn shocks for decorating! :)

Thank you! I actually brought these up from FL in March. My neighbor there was thinning hers and throwing these in the garbage! I rescued them and put them in here, NJ, the last week in March. When we returned to NJ the first week in May, they weren't looking too good and I thought I'd made a mistake, but they grew like a beanstalk! I think I'll be relocating them along the fence though. Hubby thinks they block too much of the house - I don't - I love 'em! Smiling

No Lily Beetle problems with ANY of my lilies this year. Most years they mostly are a problem on my L. lancifolium. This year I've only killed one and the plants had no damage at all. I'm going to assume that the fact that my area is pushing near a 7 inch rain deficit has something to do with that, since that's the biggest difference this year from the norm.

The polymer gels help keep the containers better .. I usually water early in the morning.. and I catch the water from the air conditioner for use in the evening when I get home.. if anything needs a shot.. I did buy a ton of annuals this spring knowing I didn't have many garden plants to play with .. had to keep sane playing with something until I can get cutting and seed central going again

Here is how the garden is shaping up .. been a learning year on what the critters eat here.. some plants they never touched at the old place they mowed down here

I had a great year last year. This year however I have had some damage. I used the same Organic Captain Jack's Dead Bug, but I only used it once and then I was trying hand picking. Not fun when it involves using paper towels to pull poopy larvae off the leaves. So I had them under control but there is still a bit of damage. I got a bunch of new lilies and I have had nothing but problems with them all. I think the beetles eggs may have hitchhiked here. I am not entirely sure that is possible but I have noticed a rise in beetle problems when introducing new lilies..

Hey, Robin D
We've been very well. Just got back last weekend from visiting grandies in OR and TX. Home til Saturday when we head to Hamilton, NY where the son who lived around the corner moved last month in order to take the pastorate at a church. Then on Sunday we'll head to Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks to camp for a week with them and his twin's family from MA. Very excited about spending time with all of them.

Pretty Marilyn. I don't have any buds or blooms on my dahlias, I don't think they are getting enough sun.

Mine were pretty late last year, I got them from the summer sale so I planted them late. They still bloomed but not until early Sept..

Dahlias do need a lot of sun, but I read an article today that said they like cool nights....not happening this summer....they also need a lot of water....HA!
