I found a couple of left overs out in the OC today. The first is a dancing lady Oncidium that I have mounted to a pet store lizzard log.

The second is a Dendrobium nobile type hybrid.

But, . . but . .. the ladies are dancing on their heads in the first picture. They'll be showing their bloomers - so to speak - and we'll have to censor them!!

Thanks Carol!
Except for having to drive right into some very nasty storms yesterday morning, the afternoon was much better than expected as the second wave of storms passed through to the South of us.
I actually had covered the cage with my handy rolls of window screening to avoid hail damage. They had kept harping on that large hail thing, which never seems to happen here, but I figured sooner or later it is going to get us.
Still a little wet and chilly here, but it is supposed to brighten later on. My little Paradise fish will surely be happier with warmer temps, but so far these little guys are tough little troopers.

Enjoys or suffers cold winters
Report from Massachusetts. Rain and rain and rain and more rain. Still haven't got any orchids outside but I would have been tarping madly and worrying when I was at work, so I'm kinda glad! Cool and wet out there today. I will be deadheading irises this PM for my big garden tour. Many many people want to come. Tomorrow seems to be the only sunny day of the week and folks want to enjoy it.

Dendrobium oligophyllum - Cute mini, easy grower plants canes are only
five inches and the flower is on half inch! Waxy thick little flowers.

I wish I could be at Kathy's garden tour!

Eric, the first two look like Dendrobiums. Not sure about the third picture. Nice looking Dendrobium oligophyllum.

I spent all day Thursday at the University of Florida's turf grass field day for Master Gardeners up in Citra. Interesting and the attendence was much better this year.

I am with Jim, the Dendrobium oligophyllum is very nice. Identifying Orchids is tough for me when in bloom, making an id when not in bloom is even harder...

Here is one of the many reason I am happy my Orchids are tucked into the Cage:
This little fellow is one of two babies. The parents are usually not too far away either. Let's just say I quit trying to grow Tomatoes or nice Veggies.

This Angraecum didieri fell off its mount ( an Oyster shell) and I just anchored it with some wire.

I need to take the Encyclias inside for better pictures, in the meanwhile -
Enc tampensis alba has a bunch of spikes this year
Thumb of 2013-06-15/Ursula/369727

And a couple long spikes of this one opened during downpours - this is in a sort of mixed Encyclia basket.

Nice! Is that a squirrel? It almost looks like a woodchuck.

Eric, I'm really liking epidendrum for the third picture, but as Ursula says, much easier to be sure once they bloom. Looks like the top picture might be putting out a bud!

Sweet baby picture, Ursula. Not a squirrel, Susan, definitely woodchuck or groundhog. So cute, but destructive to a garden for sure!

I have so few blooming I have to indulge in repeats, Ctna. 'Maui Maid' x C. intermedia alba is a little bouquet now. Amazing for a plant that is only about 6in. high, a true mini-catt.

The maybe Yellow Bird is nearly orange now, Enc. Green Hornet going strong, little NOID Tolumnia has settled on white for its denouement.

Pale mauve Spathoglottis plicata out in the flower border is a nice big, tall plant. The dark purple ones are not blooming yet, but I have been dividing them up, so they will come along, I'm sure.

That little groundhog has mischief written all over him. I'd be thankful for the cage too.

My best guess for Eric's third photo is a Coelogyne. I have one about that size that looks just like it. But, like Ursula, I would need a picture of the flower to be sure.

Ursula, even with the tumble, that is a very nice flower on the Angraecum didieri. I don't have a bloom on either of mine yet. What is the name of the Encyclia in the last picture?

Elaine, all are nice, especially the Yellow Bird. I just love that classic Brasavola form.

Out in the OC, I am thrilled to see the first blooms on my Encyclia brassavolae. I had pre-ordered this from Andy's and picked it up during the Redlands trip.

Back in bloom again is Dendrobium Burana Green Star. It blooms twice a year for me and I love the color.
