Today the seedling bloomed I have been waiting for days to see. Very excited when I looked down from the shed and first saw the bloom. 28", 5" bloom due to acute recurve. The dang thing has one sepal that has that tongue sticking out look, so did not measure that. Nice looking plant, nice thick 5 way branching scape, very good bud count for a first ever bloom scape(hard to get a count being it looks like they are still developing). But, the darn thing doesn't show a lick of sculpted relief.

Larry, is it possible that future blooms may show the sculpted relief you're hoping for?

Char, that is a lovely seedling--prettier than either parent, IMO.

I suppose it is possible, but I don't recall having a first bloom without sculpting and then later the blooms developed it. However, that being said I often have sculpted relief plants that produce quite a few non sculpted blooms. With daylilies I suppose just about anything can happen.

There's a lot of interesting stuff going on with that pattern Tina. Tooky Tooky Bird cute name, Linda had some fun names!

I like all 3 of the UF sdlgs Diana! The near white is lovely!

Thank you Nan and others for thumbs and the acorn.
Nan, both of those parent sdlgs are older bridge plants that I had used before. I agree 100%, the sdlg is much better than either parent. The pod parent has nice plant and passes on it's dark color and small appliques. Pollen parent not so good plant but it passed on bigger applique in the few sdlgs that bloomed previously. Pod parent needed applique, so it was worth a try, you just never know until the sdlgs bloom if you'll get what you planned. Smiling Sometimes "bridges" lead nowhere and the wrong one will waste your time. Pollen parent hit the compost pile a few years ago, pod when this kid became a keeper. (I have a few others from the same pod parent) I don't know if this sdlg will ever be an intro, purples with applique are a dime a dozen, but I like it and it will be tried as a bridge. Hopefully it will go where I want to go!

Larry, the sdlg with relief is interesting. There aren't many narrow relief plants out there. The other sdlg is pretty and the plant sounds fabulous! Don't get discouraged, relief is the most difficult of the 3 Sculpted forms to work on.

Elyce, that's a really pretty Self Realization sdlg. The dip sdlgs are interesting, haven't seen very many A World Away sdlgs posted. I've always wondered what it might give as a parent but found Shooter plants aren't very happy this far north so never purchased it. Love the Jefferson Airplane sdlgs!

Hilarious! Rain! We didn't have any rain at all for three weeks, but now we are making up for it. Seems like it is raining every other day. The weeds totally love it, but I am getting behind quickly!

I started when Heavenly Angel Ice, White Eyes Pink Dragon and Neon Flamingo were fairly new, so maybe 2010? It was before I ever had a computer, and I had no idea what I was doing. The first several years were just to get a pod and then finding out that I could actually grow them from seed. Learning when to plant my seeds so they didn't freeze out, and just trying new things. I am still learning, and certainly not a pro! I just know what I like, and I don't want to do so many of the smaller ones under 7". I have registered three plants, and I think I messed up the registration on all three! I do like an assortment, and every time they come out with something new, I think I have to try it. I just don't do patterns or very many doubles or cristates. Like with any hobby, I just have fun with it. I'm glad you like my work! I appreciate it very much.
