I finally changed my Plantstep that allows only the plants that you are willing to sell. I know I always seem to want the ones that are Display or Held for Increase.

We picked up our order from MP Flowers in Alpharetta yesterday afternoon, and got all the plants in the ground by nightfall. In some cases, we got plants in 2-gallon pots, and the rest were freshly dug in the morning, so I have high hopes that many of them will bloom this summer.

Mark and Patty are the chairpersons of the Region 5 Conference which is coming up June 7-8 in Atlanta, and hubby and I are in charge of the plant sale, so Mark gave us a tour of his garden where he is growing many of the sale plants and the bus plants. Our winter and spring weather has been conducive thus far for daylilies, so the plants are looking great. Mark mentioned that many of the plants will be 3 or more fans. So far, he has identified at last 60 different cultivars that will be in the sale, so I have the challenge of coming up with enough bins to display them all for sale. I guess that is a good problem to have.

Mark and Patty are two of the nicest people in the daylily business! I visit them at least twice a season and sometimes three just to sit in the gazebo and chat. Their plants do well for me as I'm about 30 minutes away from them on a good day. My garden is filled with plants from their twice a year BOGO sales!

This is it for spring--received a beautiful triple fan of Confessions Of A Hemaholic from Laura which was quickly planted--my husband said it looked so good he expected it to be blooming in a couple of days Rolling on the floor laughing

And now for a surprise--I have been looking for Crintonic Painted Desert for some years, thought I had it two years ago from C. Hanson, but he ended up returning my check, saying the plants were too small. So, I kind of forgot about it until I saw it listed on a Plant Step catalog. I emailed and found out it was available. It arrived Friday ---four very nice fans, a triple and single. Also a bonus plant, Bristol Cream--was included. The DLS are now in the ground and we are hoping we might see a bloom this year. Rainbow Mesa is the pollen parent of CPD and now CPD is planted right next to Rainbow Mesa.

Don't know why this pic is sideways, but you can see the plants are very nice, good roots.

Bristol Cream is at the top, it's actually five small plants together. It will be interesting to see how it does, since it is a Canadian hybrid.

Yes, is that considered sculpted? I am looking for some other than yellow.

@Char Would you consider this pleated?
bluegrassmom,
Here is the definition of sculpted pleated:
"A form of sculpting in which the petals have a deep longitudinal crease on each side of the midrib. These creases cause folding of the petal upon itself creating a raised platform extending from the top of the perianth tube and ending between the throat and the petal tip."
Hanson describes the midribs as "deep teaberry midribs". Not sure if he is referring to the depth of the midribs on the petals or the color as being deep teaberry. But, it certainly does have the look of being slightly pleated to me.
I had a seedling this morning that suggested being sculpted relief and sculpted pleated but it did not seem to quite match up to either.

Yes and no, Crintonic Painted Desert can show light pleating sometimes. It's not consistent enough would be my guess as to why Curt didn't register it as such. His description of teaberry would be the darker color seen in the midrib.

You can have pleating and relief together. You can also have pleating & cristate, relief & cristate, pleating, relief & cristate.... the 3 subforms work well together. I've had cristation and pleating show up in my relief lines. The Wonder Emporium is pleated and relief from relief and produced Beyond Origami which is pleated and relief with cristation on the back of the petals. Odd, seems I never added images of Beyond Origami. I'll have to get them off the thumbdrive and add some.

Char, I personally love Poseidon's Horses and Fiddle of Gold, though don't think I could ever afford them. Sighing! Sad

Just saw your post of Beyond Origami - beautiful!!

@Zoia my guess is it may be a slow grower? @Char might know. I got lucky ( Crossing Fingers! still crossing my fingers on this one) and ordered one of I think two Petal Pushers had for sale. So expecting the double fan with no extra. But when it increases enough to share, I would be more than happy too if you haven't gotten your hands on it yet. And no shipping charge Hilarious!

Wondering if The wonder Emporium and Beyond Origami will hang up?

My plants from Petal Pusher were shipped late May last year, and none of them were big enough that they would increase enough to share for several years.... She did have a couple that I wanted this year, but I ordered from other people and have already gotten my plants.

I did get a shipment from Faye Shooter today and she sure sent some nice plants! Most of them were multi fans, and a couple had at least five fans. Hurray! Embroidery Stitching is a heavily ruffled diploid and those plants are massive. Yummy!

Thank you Donna, both are favorites of mine too! I have to say when I get old and can't garden anymore of all my intro's Feel the Thunder is the one I will grow til I drop. Smiling

I know Curt sold out of Crintonic Painted Desert when it intro'd. I didn't even get it until several years later and from a different grower. As long as it's been here I do notice it seems to be slower to increase.

Deryll, no, neither The Wonder Emporium or Beyond Origami hang up. The petals on Beyond Origami can stand, with the pleating, sometimes extreme pleating which has an extra fold, and relief the midrib tissue is very thick. Add in cristation on the reverse of the petal and the petals can not recurve so remain in an upright or semi upright position. Neither of them "hang up" and fail to open because of tangled edges, which is what hang up normally refers to. Did you mean something different?

K, I'm sure eventually there will be some fair trade we can make! Perhaps postage won't be necessary if there is a garden visitation! My goal is to visit a bunch of Daylily gardens this July, as I'm not working a show for once.
