I was on the reserve list last year for Bored Housewife, but did not make it to the top of the list when Kathy dug the plants. She uses an interesting "reservation" system. At the time you send your order, she let's you know immediately if she has already used up her stock of that plant. Then she waits until she starts sorting plants in May, and she starts assigning them to the orders, based on the date of the order. She sends each requester a list of the plants they requested that are available, and the requester can then decide if they want to cancel any of the plants on the order. At that point, the requester pays for the plants they want, and Kathy ships them. There is no up-front payment and no commitment. I learned last year that I need to get my order in sooner, so I have a better chance of getting the plants I want. In the meantime, if I find the plant somewhere else or change my mind, I just let Kathy know to take me off the list for that plant.
I similarly shy away from plants that don't thrive in my garden sometimes. On the other hand, if the cultivar has a reputation for growing well (such as wild horses), I sometimes give it another try. I am on my third planting of wild horses, and have yet to see a bloom. Maybe this year
