I will be traveling to a horse show this weekend and then to my daughter's for Thanksgiving week, so I may not have time to add to this thread for awhile. I intend to complete it after that.

May sound somewhat obsessive... okay maybe a lot obsessive

, but I have always liked spreadsheets and the like, so I created a spreadsheet of all the daylilies I have or have had and added columns for those that have been listed as POTD and when I reviewed them. I'm sure my list is not up to date, but for the most part I can refer to it to see what needs reviewing.

However, there are some that I got rid of so long ago I might as well take them off the list because I don't really remember how they performed in my garden. I haven't been very diligent on adding reviews lately, but am hoping to do better with winter coming on.

My system ( and I would venture to say that that I take the prize for most obsessive), is to go through my list which is kept here. As I click on the link to the flower ( and post an annual photo, if the cultivar flowered), I also check if there is a Daylily of the Day link, directly under the main photo. If there is, then I leave an annual comment. Being obsessive, I am recording details like number of fans in Spring and Fall and how many blooms I got and when it bloomed. This helps me learn, year by year how each plant is doing. With the Daylily of the Day, hopefully I can see how it does for other people too.

Yep, Zoia!! You've got me beat when it comes to obsessiveness.

I try to keep track, but am usually haphazard about it. I do rely on my photographs a lot for bud count, branching and bloom season.

I have almost none of the daylilies in the Daylily of the Day list, and most of my named daylilies are only a year or two old, so I can't offer much insight. However, when I have a daylily (or other plant, for that matter) that performs notably, I will usually add a "comment" in the database entry for that plant, even if it is not a Daylily of the Day. I always find the comments in the database helpful.

That's definitely helpful, too, Lori. I've read those notes and used them in decisions. Out of all those lists, I've only been able to add two reviews, so I don't think you are alone not seeing any tou recognize.

I also leave and read comments on the database entries. They can be extremely helpful.

I take notes on all the daylilies in my list here. My notes aren't as extensive as Zoia's, but I can tell how long I've had the plant, how often it got rust, when it bloomed and rebloomed, and how many fans it has every year. I also have a note for each plant that has been DotD and whether or not I have yet reviewed it.
