The peak of the mountain may have a nice view, but you can see the flowers bloom at it's base.

Such a cute flower, loved by bees, yet it unleashes that nasty fragrance. I guess it's a defense against vertebrate herbivores.

I asked my family and all the women think it smells amazing and all the men think it stinks, myself included. I might just be sensitive to that scent specifically.
Aparrently a lot of white flowers have indole, the scent that makes this one stink.

Do y'all have any tips for growing from a cutting? The recent cutting woth the massive leaves didn't grow roots. The original is still alive outside though, so maybe one day I'll get seeds for it, or try another cutting.

Did the recent cutting strike roots and then failed when you potted it in potting mix?

The first one grew roots but didn't take to the pot and died. The recent one didn't even grow roots. I made sure to cut below the node, and to change the water every day.

Patience helps. Try again? Keep the cuttings out of the sun?

I found 3 more setifera seeds, and they're bone dry. However, so as to not have a repeat of last time, I'll leave them out for a couple days

Really good news! It's always good to let them air dry in your house as I previously mentioned. I read online content from Japanese morning glory growers' websites that they harvest their dry brown seed capsules and keep them in a paper bag, like a lunch bag, for anywhere from 2 weeks to a month indoors, out of the sun. Then they process the seeds by breaking open the capsules, glean away the chaff and package them. I store my dry seeds in ziplock plastic bags into which I insert some silica gel desiccant packets. The packets keep the humidity low and promote long term seed viability.

I think the sprout that got tore out is gonna survive! I used some thorns from an orange tree nearby to prop it up and protect it in the future and it's still a healthy green at least. I have hope.

I finally remembered to take a picture of the sprouts. I planted them on the 9th. First is the picture of the Milky Way one that got tore out and you can see I put thorns and a twist tie to keep it up

It's still growing, so I think I can say it survived now.
