Moss would look pretty on a container but does it like open sun? PR sun was kinda brutal from what I gather.

It was a little experiment. I filed down 4 seeds and put them in shallow water and I left 4 untouched seeds in shallow water. The scored ones puffed up in just a few hours, and the outside started cracking, but with the unscored ones I didn't notice anything yet. It just makes it faster I guess. As for the moss, it grew on some tress outside of my music school, so I just picked some off to mess with at home. I'd leave it in a dim place, not full sun. It'd be fun to have and use the moss wherever in the future, I'm sure I'll find a good place for it. It's very soft to touch at least.

You run a music school? How cool and rewarding is that?! I play violin, have been fiddling around for over 50 years. Happy to be making music as long as my arthritic hands allow it.

a little off topic now, but looked up moss lawn, since I was thinking about clover lawns, and oh my they are so gorgeous! It's so soft, and I hear it requires less water, can grow on almost any surface and also is a lot cleaner than grass- apparently it doesn't even need to be shaded! Now I'm thinking how cool it would be to have an enclosed garden with a canopy of morning glories providing the shade required for the moss lawn 😍

ah, I'm just a student haha. I actually graduate in May. 😊
I play piano, and have been for about 6 or so years now I think.

Yeah, sounds elegant. Probably nothing eats moss so that's a plus.

Nice - my wife used to play piano. I should try my hand at learning that instrument.

Oh no!! I went to the side of the road where the setifera was growing, but it was all buried!! It's unfortunate, but I only got about a dozen seeds. They're still growing down the mountain, but it's steep and I didn't see any seeds.

Were they doing road work? A dozen seems like a lot to me. Maybe you will discover more roadside treasures in your travels.

There were mounds of gravel and stuff nearby, but I don't know why they would cover that area specifically. Maybe to prevent the little plot from falling down the mountain and getting smaller, I don't know.

about 2/3rds of all the seeds I collected are splitting their coat, so I separated them and have 13 seeds without any cracking in the coat, though I'm still saving them all.

Happy Monday! Here's an Ipomoea purpurea that I grew indoors 10 years ago. The photo appeared in my Facebook memories feed.

They're doing well. Since it was just an experiment, i threw the control seeds into the pot with the other one's growing in it, but the nicked ones have sprouted and are about an inch tall now. I did it again the day before yesterday and planted them in 2 pots against the fence, so that'll be nice when they sprout.

Yeah! I sold some seeds to my professors and classmates and my professor was shocked when I said from the moment you plant it, in just a week it'll be like 3 inches tall

I put one seed in water this morning which I collected from this Ipomoea purpurea. I got only 3 seeds from the flower. I hope the flower looks the same in the offspring plant.

Goodness somehow I was no longer getting notices from this forum!! Just signed back in today. Joseph so excited to tell you that one of the Danjuro seeds you sent me finally popped up yesterday. I had about given up. The seeds were planted on Jan. 10 and that one showed up on 2-13. Here is the photo....

Thank you. I was really excited to see it. It spontaneously appeared amongst the rest of the flowers that were the striped flaked color pattern.
