My favorites - Victory, Fedco, Pinetree, Totally Tomatoes, Tomatofest, Johnny's, Territorial. I haven't ordered much from True Leaf Market, but in the past I obtained quite a few of my seeds from Sustainable Seeds, which TLM took over a couple of years ago.

Trueleaf looks great, I just opened their site and they have Kitazawa asian seeds- another acquisition I guess.
Rareseeds IS Baker Creek- I've used and been happy with.
Plant it and they will come.

Last year the bugs were super numerous, but the heat was astronomical, so do not count that as a normal year for plants nor bugs. I found a Summer Squash Vining Yellow Grex that is supposed to be both vining and borer resistant...my borers live here year round, so just going with what is best to grow in limited spaces

Interestig thread! Thanks!

I couldn't find anything more recent but posted an inquiry on a 2 year old you tube thread. Will update if I get a response.

Thanks for the suggestions on the seed sites, I'm checking them all out now. One other question I've always wondered and finally remembered to ask-

Should I be growing intermediate or maybe even short day onions despite living where you'd plant "long day" onions normally?

An absolutely massive tree blocks the sun for the last few hours of the day for me, I'd say mid-summer the sunniest part of the garden gets, at best, 10 hours of sunlight. If the point of short/long day onion differences is true, should I not be planting short day onions? Since the sun isn't shining on them the full 14+ hour days in summer?

I have in the past ten years, had on several occasions, seed packets that were near total non-germination.
I will not list the types as over time I do not cling to such bad things and I am not going to give a by guess and by gosh reply on that , BUT.

Places with small seed packs often have the worst germination, but again: I have had large seed packs from top line seed houses that were a total failure.
Now these were all corn seeds, and some bad years were winged vermin, but some there were no winged vermin and nothing came up.

Now I have gone to bakeries and had crap bread so bak.... I tip my hat to you.

This might be a coincidence, or all in my mind, operator error, or whatever... but I really feel that since 2020 and all the "supply chain issues" and whatever else, the seed quality overall has gone down quite a bit. Shrug!

The past two days I've been killing myself hoeing, shoveling weeds, shoveling sand, pulling cabbage stalks, pulling mustard greens, pulling a cart full of heavy sand or mustard greens and dumping into woods. My feet are hurting and need massaging but I'll have to do it myself.
The backyard is swampy and all my work left a muddy trail.
Planted one last batch of radishes, lettuce and kale in my box since I got it cleaned out and put fertilize in it.
After all that hard work the only thing someone said to me after coming indoors was, 'pew that's the worst thing I ever smelled'. At least one person asked if I was alright when they noticed me shuffling along like an elderly.
I still have lots more to do like raking where the mustard greens were, taking the leaves out of the yard and emptying heavy containers of sand.
Ban the GMO tomato!

@repentantslide if you can get them, you might try the short day variety, sometimes it just matters how much nitrogen and rain they get. They need iron as well, and if you have a lot of calcium it fights that iron. We grow them on top of a berm here, since that bulb rots if the drainage isn't fast

I'm pleased that all of my cold crops survived a week below freeze, snow cover likely helped.
Plant it and they will come.

Winter is a time for fresh greens and roots. Carrots, rutabagas, collards, mustard and turnip in abundance. Even have some leaf lettuce for sandwiches.

Note to self- don't leave the fall carrots TOO long- the voles may get them- as they did. Today I pulled a nice big bunch of hollowed out tops of carrots with their greens. Thumbs down
Plant it and they will come.

Dang varmints!!

Peanut would have happily eaten those tops. I need to start some lettuce for him, on the light shelf.

I punch drainage holes in bins, and grow carrots in those bins.
And I must put a net over as we have voles and carrot rust fly here.
Sorry to the grammar people!

I'm amazed at how much you've all already done this year!
I have done, of course, nothing at all. Some health issues, pretty well sorted now, so we're coming alive again.
In fact, the OG is reorganizing all kinds of things, including the room where the seeding shelf is; I think it's about to get moved into the greenhouse. That's okay, as it's kind of messy where it's been and I', not doing the hydroponics anymore, so seeding can wait until March.
I have a very short, modest list of seeds to order, now that he can see again, and have already sorted the ones I still have.
Be ready to go in two months.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

Vera, so glad his vision is good again, nothing more important for you both than your health... the garden will still be there! Glad you're "coming alive" in plenty of time for spring planting. Green Grin!

Why do you punch holes in your carrots? Whistling
