Lovely tree peonies Karen. I miss my 20+ tree peonies I left behind in NC. My only tree peony here in Ohio, opened a bloom today; Sunrise from Solaris. 2 years old

It's supposed to rain tonight so I cut some of the weak stemmed peonies.

Thanks Gary! This year have at least one bud on every peony except Cincinnati and Kisseltoes (very small roots). Two out of 3 buds on Rose Heart were snapped off by rabbits or squirrels which was very upsetting.

Great looking blooms, Gary and Hiya! In spite of not being double, your Lemon Chiffon has very nice colors. The color of the foliage really compliments the yellow flowers. Yes, I remember you had wonderful tree peonies in your old home, Gary. Is there a reason you are not adding as many to your current home?

Hiya, love your bouquet! Sunny Girl looks great in your arrangement! Your Spumone Whisper is adorable in the bush pic.

Wow, there are some pretty peonies here. I lived in the deep south since the early 80's where it was too hot for peonies and have just moved to the mountains in western NC. There are 5 peony plants at the house we bought and the first flower opened yesterday. I have no idea of any of the varieties, the buds seem different on each plant, it will be fun watching them. Anyone recognise this one?

That is a beautiful bloom Ardesia. I lived in7b outside of Winston Salem for 25 years. I could grow early and midseason peonies. Late mid and Late blooms never made it to bloom. Itohs do great there. Kousa, when we moved to Ohio, we downsized so I don't have the space for a whole lot more.

Gorgeous flowers everyone! Karen and I are in the same region and it got hot, peonies are opening all over the place. I really can't keep up, this year in anticipation of launching my vases for sale, I'm committed to arranging with every peony I can but the hot weather makes me have to try to hustle and not everything else in the garden is ready to cut from.

I need to move Rosy White Clouds this Fall to a better location, it's dwarfed by Capt'n Kate which was amazing this year. RWC is one of my favorites in this Rock type coloring.

My arrangement, it got dark and the flowers closed up but the lowest bloom is Rosy White Clouds. I need to cut some brighter foliage to lighten this one up, I wasn't super happy with it so I'll be doing a new version tomorrow.

Correction: This is Majesty's Star, not Majestic Center, first blooms and there are 7! planted 2022 from Peony Shop, I also got Triphena Parkin at the same time and that has HUGE flowers not yet ready but very happy with the increases and it looks like it might be adventitious. Will have to put the sprouts somewhere to see what they are. These were super splurges so more plants would be a nice bonus Grin

For the past 25 years or so, I have never had a peony bloom in April. So, Nosegay opened up on the 29th of April. Seems to be an early Spring...

Alice, I wonder if yours maybe Pink Jitterbug?

Gary, your Quitzen looks much lovelier than other pics that I have seen of it! I totally get your downsizing. I think someday I may have to do the same.

Wow, Sulli! You have some amazing blooms and all in rare colors. Love the peachy, pinkish orange of Vela and Majestic Center! They are SO gorgeous! Sunny Girl is really pretty. Yes, this hot weather really made everything opens fast and fades fast too. I had to cut a bucket of blooms to save for Mother's Day arrangement. I wish I have more refrigerator space to store them.

Frank, love your Nosegay! I wish my bush grows as nice as yours. I think it does not like my soil. But I am lucky and happy that I got two flowers on it this year.

Bucket of blooms that I cut yesterday.

So many pretties. I don't think I have a yellow one, all the buds on the other plants here are still pretty tight, Sunny Girl Lovey dubby sure looks like it would round our the colors in the bed.

Karen, keep them cool and dark and they should be fine. The weather will cool a bit and I'm hoping the blooms slow a little so we can appreciate them!

Alice- I'm not a big yellow fan so choosing the few i have was tough but I would highly recommend Sunny Girl, it's grown a ton in 2 years, the blooms are sturdy and don't need support. The main thing with many yellows and pale peaches is fragility but this has no issues for me. I got mine from Peony Shop, i have had really great success with my herbaceous from them.

Thanks for the likes everyone and the acorn Karen!

Manchurian Promise is performing really great this year. I have never seen this many buds on my shrub before. This wonderful cultivar produces so many beautiful peachy, orange, apricot colored blooms.

Beautiful peonies, Sully Hurray! Acorn Hurray! I like those dark blotches on Ice Age and Capt'n Kate. Interestingly, I wouldn't expect that Rockiis bloom at the same time as Vela, which is a Lutea hybrid. Right? Luteas usually bloom later. Interesting Thinking

Wow! I am amazed at every one's blooms. Such beauties and I'm so happy for all of you! Keep posting pics! This season seems to be rushing by for me.

Here's some photos of my Tinka Phillips. It scoffed at the freezes I had and I'm so happy. The blooms do have to be supported.

Thank you so much for the kind comments, acorns and thumbups! So far this year, my tree peonies totally outperform my expectations. Somehow, the mild temps in the winter really helped them grow in order for them to produce so many buds.

I am so in love with Joanna Gilbert TP. The flowers are packed full with petals and in a lovely cool light pink color.
