Oscar, so many huge and glorious flowers!!! I'd love to see a video walk through - the trip to the Brooklyn Botanic garden made me realize how hard it is to capture the character of tree peonies with still pics. I guess it would have to be a link?

Bea, so pretty!! Could you share the name of this one?

Everyone's blooms are so perfect and making me very impatient! I've seen neighbor's tree peonies in full bloom - my yard seems to be in a cold pocket but I guess it keeps my peonies further behind and safer from late season frosts. I can't wait, I have 4 peonies with buds I'll see bloom for the first time this year.

I too wonder if Oscar has some gardening techniques, such as pruning or fertilization, that produce astounding tree peonies. Of course, his lilac also seems loaded with flowers. Frank's Fire Dragon is so beautiful nestled against the steps on that incline. Tree peonies have a lot of landscape interest just in their foliage, let alone the flowers. One just has to be young enough to wait for maturity.

Bea, living in the Northwest, you are in peony paradise. One of the big problems here this spring has been above-normal temps that quickly wilt some peony blooms. And then a period of daily rain adds to problems. And our rains aren't that Northwest mist precipitation.

Well, despite issues with recent bloomers, there have been some picture-worthy moments--even if one has to be quick to capture them. In general, I am disappointed in the number of midseason and later cultivars that had sparse bloom, perhaps because of the above-normal temps.

Hawkeye Daddy, your noid may be Maestro. One reason I get peony combos is that some of the plants are too close together. Now look at the expanse in Franks's picture! Lots of room for new plants (though I wouldn't want to mow the lawn).

LG, Butterfly's fragrance is mainly spicy with both flowery and a bit musky undertones.

Those overcast days enhance the colors (though sometimes make photographing more difficult). YT equals Yachiyo Tsubaki, I assume. Renkaku is especially lovely in the group and nicely captured. I like the lattice fence background esthetically and also good for light. Is Rimpoh also the tall one against the lattice? The second picture with light pink sprawling onto the driveway. Could you name that huge bush?

Hot Chocolate held in sun quite well this year.

Bea, thank you for the ID!

Mantis, such pretty combinations. I tried to think ahead a few years for combos but since I only get one peony a year and I've never seen any of them bloom in person, I gave up and just bought and planted where I had room.

Oscar, just gorgeous. It must be so fun waiting and watching those beauties bloom.

Hi Frank, woodies are the way to go—growing tree peonies is definitely the right choice Hurray! You will not regret Smiling I am positive your TPs will love your garden. I am sometimes amazed how your peonies are a way ahead of mine, although we are in the same climate zone.

However, Oscar set the bar high Hilarious! Difficult to beat Hilarious!
