Lynn, your garter snake looks pretty darn close to alive. I can't remember right now if I gathered Wintergreen the dragonfly up and brought her in for the winter. Blinking Tomorrow, you know I'll be out there searching until I find her. Whistling

Chris is so talented.

Oh Chelle, I hope you find Wintergreen. Sad

Here is another semp I got last year. This one goes through some very interesting color changes. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Aross')

Oh, I'm sure I will; she's not even technically lost since I haven't looked for her yet. Smiling Sometimes small items here are misplaced momentarily because they've been put in a place safe from a 6 year-old...... Rolling my eyes. Lovey dubby ......otherwise, they might really get lost. The other two were previously sitting in the Christmas tree, but Wintergreen had no means of clinging to it.....she may just be sitting on a high window ledge. Smiling

That's another very pretty semp! Big Grin

The database photo entries are so helpful, especially when they have images of plants in different stages of development! By looking at the entry for Abba, for instance, I can clearly see how an offset grows out, and then larger, to eventually appear to come right out of the mother's crown. I'd always wondered how that worked, exactly.

Hurray!

She was right where I left her. *Blush* See her there in the grass above the rocks? Of course, the view doesn't look the same today.... Sad

I did bring her inside so she doesn't fall and possibly get swept away in the spring floods that race through that area.

Thumb of 2012-02-16/chelle/71cfd7

I think I'll set her in the other (indoor) semp planter for now..... Big Grin ....after I clean her up a bit.

Hi folks: I am one of the new ones posting here. New to cubits June 2011 and trying to learn and read as many topics as I can. Overwhelmed! What talented knowledgeable people. I am soooo impressed and happy to have found all of you. Big shout out to Dee from Snow PeakIris that told me about Cubits after ordering from her last year.

My question is about Sempervivum "Ann Christy". I see it grows in Denver Colorado so it should grow in my zone 5a, Illinois close to Chicago.Correct? Does anyone have some of this to trade or sell for postage this coming year? I only have a few different kinds and I am tring to add more to my gardens. Need suggestions for some "bushy" ones and tall ones. I have grown the typical ones they sell locally, Autumn Joy, Neon and Frosty Morn. I do not like the ones that have a tendancy to fall over. Looking for "colorful" burgundy and blue ones and variegated ones". Not sure if I have pictures of my sedums but will look back thru computer and camera files to see if I can find some. Very novice. I have a few that were given to me that I do not even know the names. Any help will be appreciated.

HAVE A SUNNY AREA ON THE TOP OF MY RIVERBANK GARDENS THAT WOULD LOVE TO GROW MORE SEDUMS AND FIND SOME THAT MAY LIKE MORE SHADE, IF THERE IS SUCH A THING.

Hurray! I see her Chelle, I see her. Green Grin!

Hi doglover. Welcome!
Wonderful photos.
So glad sent you our way. We would all love to see your Sempervivum photos when you can corral them.
Tabby & picklepuff have Sempervivum 'Ann Christy'. It sure is a gorgeous semp. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Ann-Christy')
In another month or two many of us will be doing trades, so keep checking in. We love trades. Green Grin!

Have you had a chance to go through the sempervivum database entries yet?

Here is a link to the Sedum Forum. We will all try to help you with your search for sedum. http://garden.org/forums/view/...

Hi, dog,

If you are looking for height among the "sempervivum" group, I would suggest you give the Jovibarba heuffelii a try. They tend to produce a clump that goes higher than the typical sempervivum or jovibarba. You will also find that most sempervivum and jovibarba do well in zone 5.

Tabby's pic of Anne Kristy does remind me of some of the Jovibarba's in coloration and clumping.

Wow, thanks all. I feel like I am in good hands now. Definatley will be trying to learn more about these plants.
first of all........thank you everyone for welcoming me and taking on someone new.

valleylynn:Thank you for attaching the website and guiding me to the forum for sedums. I will try to find some pictures to attach. I honestly have to say that I have never been one to take a lot of pictures of my sedum, mostly my peonies, iris, daylilies, woodland native, hostas and such. Will look thru the database as soon as I find it.

I will be sure to get more this summer! I am anxious to start my collection and about learning something new to add to my gardens.Looking forward to adding to something to my gardens in hopes that I will add more plant color and texture that will look great in the summer and fall months when all my sping plants have died back. Beside daylilies and coneflowers, what else do you suggest?

I will try to stay on top of the trade. Please give me heads up everyone. I have been so busy learning my way around All Things Plants and Cubits........so much to read. Wonderful. I can't stop reading, addictive.

Twitcher: Please note that I appreciate all the help I am getting. I will check out the one you suggested.

Picklepuff: Definately will take you up on some. Stay in touch. you are so kind and generous. Thanks all doglover

Hurray! Doglover, with all those other plant photos you need to visit the Plant Database. You will find the tab for it at the top of the page.
Once there just type in the name of the plant that you have photos for and enter them into the database.
You will earn acorns for adding photos, propose data information for the plant if it doesn't have any yet and do comments on your experience with that plant. More acorns. Hurray!
Right now you can use the acorns to buy All Things Plants ceramic mugs or All Things Plants T-shirts. With time there will be more things to spend your acorns on.

You are going to have so much fun being part of this awesome community of plant lovers.

Ooooh, I just looked at your avatar. That is one beautiful dog.

Thumbs up Will report back, Lynn!

We go a few times a year. It's always a great time. They have semps and lots of succulents, and hardy Aloes too.

It'll be 60 this time, so good viewing weather...last time we went it was too hot to really enjoy.

The fairies should be in attendance, prepping for the weekend seminar. Hilarious!

I can't wait to see what is there in the way of Sempervivum. And all the other wonderful plants. There will more than likely be something for just about all the forums here at ATP. Hurray!
