The wind is removing some of the snow from mine but they still have that dormant look.
I lost some to rabbits this year. I thought I had some pots in a safe place, but apparently not and they got quite chomped. A few semps got completely mowed off, but I may have duplicates of those varieties elsewhere.
Everything else looks like it's coming through the winter fine though. Anything in the ground or in hypertufa looks good, especially since I caged and fenced most everything except those pots mentioned earlier.

Tabby, you have rabbits and Chris has voles. Sad
Maybe there is enough crown left that some might start reproducing from the crown?

I put the black bird netting over my beds this last fall and left it over the winter. Wow, what a difference that made. My only problems is the heavy down pours we have had several times in the last month. I am finding gravel and soil washed away from the roots on many of the plants.
You can see it on this S. 'Stansfeldii'. Still to wet to weed and repair. I think they will be okay for another week or two.

Warm weather is finally hear and some of my plants are finally starting to color up. The pics didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but I was in a hurry at the time.

Here's a few of pics:

How wonderful that they are starting to wake up.
Your Pacific Blazing Star is really starting to color up. Is it left out in the open, or is it one that is on your porch?

They're looking good Twit! We've had freakish weather (again/still) this week too. It was 76 deg. here yesterday!! Normal high is about 35 deg. My semps are looking good, but unfortunately I'm not allowed to bend over so I can't get any pictures. Thumbs down

With this warm weather all my perennials are starting to come up. My clematis are even starting to show signs of growth. Scares me because I know this weather isn't going to last......

My semps are starting to color up here. We have had really cold snow covered weather one day and the next we have 75 degrees!
Chris I hope your doing well. Group hug soon enough you will be digging in the dirt!
I dropped an email to Nora at Mountain Crest Gardens. They will be activating the wholesale order form , on the website, at the end of this month. I'm sure listing more semps that will be available as well.
Is anyone interested in a group buy? Drooling

Lynn, PBS is out in the weather and not on the porch. I had to hand water the semps on the porch yesterday, as they were looking a bit too dry and shriveled.

Sandi, I checked a MCG a few days ago and was surprised to see how few semps and sedums were listed. Hope that increases as well.

Chris, I share your concerns. My Cornelian cherries are in full bloom. While they tolerate frost, if it gets too cold, I will lose the whole fruit crop. The past two weeks, its been a bit colder than what is considered normal here, but the past few days has been well above normal and we are going to be in the 70's daytime for the next 10 days (if the weather oracles know what they are talking about). The Cornelian cherries typically bloom in late march or early April, so we are at least two weeks ahead of schedule. Hope it holds.

I was out for almost 2 hours this morning, weeding, tagging and cleaning dirt out of the pots. I really like how the wooden planters I made last year have held up and how the plants are doing in them. The cheap plastic pots I've been using just don't hold up well enough from year to year and I don't like using different sizes, creating a motley display, for the collection. I guess that means I'll be making more planters this year.

Even burying the plastic tags has not been sufficient as the bad storms over the winter actually blew a few tags out of the pots. Have to find a better way.

Fame Monstrose: Noticed the the Monstrose form will produce mostly Monstrose offsets, but the non-Monstrose offsets also produce mostly Monstrose offsets. Looks weird to see a normal hen surround by Monstrose offsets.

It's spring! (well, almost...)

Hi Sandi, yup, feeling pretty good. Now if I just don't do something stupid to set me back. Whistling I'd be interested in a group buy!

I lost my Fame Monstrose a couple of winters ago. Sad Twit, do you have a picture of yours with the two kinds of hens? Sounds cool! Can you post pictures of the wooden planters you made too? We had horrible freeze/thaw cycles that heaved a lot of tags and plants out of the ground. I think I went out 4 times this winter to push them back in fearing they'd blow away too. Is there a way you can attach a tag to the bottom of the pots? Maybe with double sided carpet tape?

Here's to Spring! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Wow, everybody is so much ahead of me. But, we're having a bit of a warm spell so maybe things will break dormancy.

Sandi, I could be talked into buying a few with you once I see what MCG has.

Twit, I've given up on relying on plants tags in the garden since we get 100 plus MPH winds. The winds blew over a nice healthy spruce tree a few weeks ago - thick roots were broken off! The wind also removed soil around a lot of roots so it's no surprise that tags went missing.
So last year I took overhead pictures of my gardens and used photoshop to add the names. Now I can make a printout and know which plant is which, and replace tags if I have to.

Tabby, I move my pots around all the time, so your approach would not work for me.

I bought some copper and aluminum tags at the local nursery the other day, thinking I could use them. I tried my dremel tool to write on them, but that didn't work. I tried writing with an old pen, a pencil and will try with a nail, but so far nothing satisfactory. If I could write on a metal tag, I could nail it into the wooden planters or something similar.

Chris, I'm going to get you pics of the Fame Monstrose and send you a couple when we get the trading going again. I find them to be a little sensitive to excess moisture, and relatively slow to increase, but really do like them. I have a normal looking Fame Monstrose surrounded by Monster offsets, but need to transplant it before the pic as the plastic pot is disintegrating.

Years ago I tried copper tags since they were easy to write on with an ice pick. But they were too soft and eventually broke in the winds and blew away. I guess that's what I get for living where the winds can blow over wrought iron tables, benches and occasionally remove a roof.

Twit, that would be why it is starting to color up so beautifully.
Erwin Geiger keeps all of his semps out in the weather. He sure gets some amazing color from his semps doing that.
How are your Nanking Cherries doing twit?
Wish I could get out and weed. It has been raining so heavy that we are in danger of flooding again. I am so grateful for my raised beds.

Here is a bit of interesting news. Evidently this plant is going under two names. I will add the photos to the Fantasy entry when I get back home.

And here is Fame Montrose. Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Fame Monstrose')

I would combine the two showing both names, but when you research those two semps it shows different hybridizers. ??????

Tabby that is some kind of wind you get. : (
I'll be in Denver the end of April, hope the weather is better by then. : )
Would love to meet up with you and Sandi, if you have time? I plan on making a visit to Denver Botanical Gardens. Any suggestions on going there?

For now the two shall have separate entries. I'll have to do more research.
