OK well, here's a (terrible) photo of Doritis pulcherria (that may be spelled wrong)

It is really hard to get on line from the ship. Anyway, we are headed for Dover England and we must be close as the weather has taken an English turn for the worse. 54 degrees, foggy and 17 mph winds. We will be in Dover for just a day, then a week in Norway. Word is it is beautiful and expensive.

The Doritis is so pretty, Susan. Is it fragrant? I'm thinking there might be an 'm' in the pulcherrima but may be thinking of another type.

Maybe Jim will be able to get online in an internet Tea Shop in England. Bet they're ready for some warm weather by now.

Doritis pulcherrima I would think. And it is really pretty.

Jim, you will be so happy to come home to warmer temperatures. But I am sure you are having a good time otherwise. Smiling

Bree, nice Paph!! Thumbs up

Another inch and a half of rain already this morning, and I keep getting chased indoors so here I am gardening by computer . .

Just an odd thought here, that other than the black plague which keeps popping up randomly, all my orchids seem to be absolutely loving all the rain. Might be the cooler temps we've had through June and this first half of July as well, of course. But my goodness I have a lot of new growth this year! Much more than I've ever seen in previous summers. I'm guessing I'll get out the hose and give everybody a good douse a little more often on the days when it doesn't rain from now on.
Boring you with the same old, but better than no pictures at all! NoID catt still going, Spathoglottis 'opal', Yellow Bird is almost yellow, can't beat Enc. Green Hornet for just blooming and blooming.

Pretty! We too were getting so much rain- now we have all sorts of interesting fungus amongus. lol I'll post some photos over in the "other plants" I guess.

The Dichaea glauca I had such harsh words for must have listened, as it burst into bloom. Very fragrant, and some might find it a bit cloying- almost like an Easter Lily. Den. Betty Gott is still growing strong, although I don't like the upside down flowers Thumbs down Burr. Dee Luce 'Everglades' is all open too.

Susan and Elaine, beautiful. Lovey dubby

The Dichaea glauca is really nice. I had one for many years, it refused to bloom and finally dimped last year.

Absolutely lovely Dichaea with that pretty blue-ish foliage, Susan. Don't worry, everybody's orchids face every which way like your Den.

They're like kittycats, I think. Make a face or turn tail when you want a picture. Hilarious!

Steaming for the fjords of Norway after a lovely tour in southern England. The town of Rye is wonderful. We should be home in another week.

Elaine and Susan, those are lovely , and we don't mind seeing some more than once. I'm going to have to look up that Dichaea glauca.
No measurable rain here, but moderate temps and higher than normal humidity are keeping my 'chids happily growing too.

I have to agree with Kathy-this Den. Roy Tokunaga is a must have. It's been in bloom since March, and just now loosing blooms. Sorry for the bad photo!

So right, Carol. Both re: missing Jim and the Den Roy Tokunaga, it's absolutely gorgeous!

You've sure got a symphony in pink going on there.

I love that Encyclia adenocaula ssp. Guadalupeae, Carol, and it's mount!

Yes, missing Jim very much. His trip sounds fanatastic but I don't know if I could see all those countries at that rate- I'd probably sleep through some of them, Hilarious!

I guess I'm just an antisocial homebody, but I'd rather see the highlights on the internet than travel the world...especially with the problems the cruise lines have been having lately.
Ted, the neo. is getting two spikes, right on time!

Here's a couple recently opening.
Nagelliella Purpurea. A new spike this year.
Thumb of 2013-07-15/Ted5310/33b66d

And Psychopsis Mariposa Green River. Last year it grew an additional spike, and I'm hoping for a flower on it this year. Also, 2 new spikes coming up. Makes a total of eight
This plant needs to be re-potted, but I'm afraid to do anything since i am told it does not like to be re-potted. The plastic pot it came it is stretched out of shape. I'll have to look at it again this winter and see if I dare re-pot before it starts its growth in the spring.

Ted, maybe you could just drop the Psychopsis into the next sized pot? That's what the grower did with my Laelia pacavia. It is in it's fourth pot now. It's happy, but I'm willing to forgo blooms for a couple of years since it has outgrown the 6" pot. Just a suggestion.

Actually, that is what I think was thinking. Next size pot,cut the old plastic pot off, put in new pot and just add some small bark. No cleaning or futzing with the roots, etc.

The Laelia pots were never cut. It just creeps over the side and winds its roots around the inside of the plastic pot. I treat it like a mounted plant. Now it has to be renovated, as it is creeping over the outer pot, with nothing but old psbs on the interior. Don't know anything about your plant though.

I would say it is a terrestrial, as there are few, very few roots crawling out. and they are the really thin variety. I think that is why the pot is so deformed. I'll have to get pix tomorrow
