I haven't seen mine yet, but I remember worrying about it last year because it's a late emerger.

I HOPE it's ok because I LOVE the flowers!

They are just about 6 inches above ground here. Your plants should be coming up soon. Hurray!

Waiting for pics, I have been debating on adding one. I have seen someone had a rather tall one that flopped. Any shorter ones without that nasty habit.

You can pinch them stems to limit the height. I have a very old hardy hibiscus which, left to it's own devices, will grow to about 6' tall and flop over. Pinching them back at about one foot of new growth will limit the height and increase the number of stems and blossoms.

Thanks, I will check out those Clint.

Pinching I am sure would help.

My Midnight Marvel is coming up, but only showing 3 stems so far. I just noticed it yesterday, so it's behind the others that I have. The only hibiscus that droop bad for me are Plum Crazy and Cranberry Crush. I just got Cranberry Crush last year so maybe it will be better as it matures.

All are up except for Torchy and Plum Crazy. I'm ready for some big, beautiful blooms out there!

THIS IS ROSA SINSENSIS from last year, she had just started to grow when we had the bitter cold and snow, I sure hope it did not kill her roots but so far nothing.

All of mine are up except Torchy. It had a small sprout of new growth on it and then it disappeared. Confused I did buy some tomato cages for my hibiscus and dahlias this year. Someone mentioned using them to keep their plants upright, so I figured for less than $2 each it's worth a try! Heartthrob looks like a pretty one!

If Hardy hibiscus was crossed with wild swamp rose mallow, would the offspring be similar to the wild form and revert back? I'm lucky enough to have both growing here and they bloom at the same time.

Cultivated varieties of Hardy Hibiscus are a mixture of wild type, often multiple species, not just two. I doubt that the offspring would "revert back", but would probably show characteristics of both parents. Show looking more like one and some looking more like the other.
