This Two-tailed Tiger eclosed yesterday. I was excited to finally see and let it fly!

Not entirely sure of this one. It was going flower to flower yesterday.

I see that frist pic was turned around when posted. Have had that happen before.

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

Lin, it would be very difficult to figure that butterfly out. It's got those areas of light coloring on the underside of the hindwing that I've never seen on any swallowtail. Maybe a Pipevine Swallowtail, but the light areas shouldn't be there. Beautiful, Dave! I never see those here!

Lin, I think I forgot to say that that tiger WAS one I raised...the only tiger caterpillar I saw this year. I posted pictures of that other butterfly on the GW butterfly forum and received an opinion that it is probably a Pipevine Swallowtail with some kind of variation on the color.
This is one of the 2 largest Queen caterpillars I have. Both were found on a milkweed vine, Funastrum cynanchoides...I had wondered if the butterflies would actually use that as a host plant, so now I know.

And the Variegated Fritillaries are back! They haven't been around much this year, so I was glad to see this one.

Linda, I think that IS a pipevine swallowtail. Look at these & they show the light area on the underside of the hind wings.

I would rule out a Black as it is missing the pupil and eye spot on the upper HW margin.
