Lin, I think I forgot to say that that tiger WAS one I raised...the only tiger caterpillar I saw this year. I posted pictures of that other butterfly on the GW butterfly forum and received an opinion that it is probably a Pipevine Swallowtail with some kind of variation on the color.
This is one of the 2 largest Queen caterpillars I have. Both were found on a milkweed vine, Funastrum cynanchoides...I had wondered if the butterflies would actually use that as a host plant, so now I know.
And the Variegated Fritillaries are back! They haven't been around much this year, so I was glad to see this one.
