They really are exceedingly easy to make.

I will have to keep it in mind for any spare (ha!) time. Thanks for keeping us updated on it, it looks like a great way to do it.

If the mini-spray-jet nozzles sold for small-scale irrigation work in cloners, it's cheaper to replace them than to buy a filter. Spray nozzles can be had for 20 cents.

What always deterred me from making a spray cloner was the idea of immersing a pump in water. I guess they are built to be shock-proof, and I should be more trusting.

I guess you've never had an aquarium .. they are totally safe and the pumps for this machine is a fountain pump so it's built to be immersed.

Nope! it's funny - I'm not afraid of chemicals because I know I can take effective precautions. I've worked with carcinogens and radioactive isotopes. But the idea of electrons moving through wires underwater seems ... wrong.

Next time I get an urge to clone something, I'll embolden myself and shop for fountain pumps.

Do you think 5 psi and a few GPH is enough, or do the sprayers need 10 psi?

(I re-read the top of the thread, and I guess I should do some research and experimentation. If more than a dozen sprayers are wanted, maybe 60-120 GPH is desirable (1-2GPM). I should get a few "Ez Clone sprayers" and compare their spray pattern with the irrigation sprayers I already have.

Then test whether a gentle mist is as good as an upside-down rainstorm. I liked someone's idea that that being hit with spray strengthens the water roots like a fan on seedlings' stems.

As far as the psi, I don't have a clue. I know the one I got, 280 gph is probably way bigger than what I needed since I had to set it at it's lowest level - at it's highest level it was blowing the net pots out of the top. I'm pretty sure I can use this pump for my big machine when I build it and get a less powerful one for the the bucket machine.

I have now finished making one of these machines, took all the tip from Anne, on hers. Everything seems to be working fine. Fingers crossed. Must say Clint Brown was right about the Hardy Hibicus taking off fast.

Now one question for Anne, you said that the Passi flower rooted fast for you, how fast and are you using Clonex on your cuttings. Thanks

WTG! Pictures please! Passies started showing roots in a bout 5 day without the cloning solution.

Sounds great, James. What kind of pump and sprayers did you use?

Sorry have no pictures, but followed all of Anne, instructions to the T. The system seams to be working fine. I did put some Harrdy Hibiscus and they rooted right away, have put some Passi cuttings but have not seen anything happening yet. Can't wait to see the fruits of this machine.
