I'll never know.
I love the fruit, but I don't expect to be anywhere I could smell the flower.

Oh California.

Thumbs up Yes. I remember those from childhood visits to my grandparents in Florida. They were fortunate enough to have several types of citrus trees in their yard.

I have my first self-sown alyssum this year; only a couple of plants worth, but it's a start. Smiling

I moved here from the boonies between Stockton and Lake Tahoe.
I lived in SF for awhile and regret losing my grip on it ($$$$$$$).

Yes. It was the only job offer I got out of college so I moved out here and have been living out here since 1987.

And yes, Go Steelers. I still root for them. I also root for the Pirates as long as they aren't playing my Dodgers.

@Kelli I love working outside in FL when our citrus is in bloom -- one each grapefruit, orange and Meyer lemon. Today I worked outside in AR in the back yard because our gardenia is in bloom. The fragrance kept me out there! Whistling

On 9/13/13, I said, "I'm dying to smell a Hoya bloom." Well, I got one, and it bloomed recently, and was one of the worst things I've ever smelled. Gag-o-rama! I sincerely hope nobody went & bought one to sniff on account of what I said almost 2 yrs ago. Ooooooops & sorry!

(Still a complete mystery, those folks who wrote in the past about the lovely aroma, kind of like *chocolate.* Hopefully I'll never encounter whatever kind of chocolate that is!! And dying to know what plant they actually did sniff.)

Hmmm....flowers i would/have purchase for the scent alone...

I just recently got a hoya with a blooming peduncle and it smells of butterscotch, so yummy! It's faint, maybe because only a few of the tiny flowers on the peduncle opened, but I could definitely recommend it: H. davidcummingii
(SRQ Hoyas has it if anyone wants to try it out)

My 'Firefighter' rose made it into my garden pretty much on scent alone. I really don't like thorns, so roses weren't terribly high on my list, but between the fragrance and the beautiful blooms...

I purchased a lilac from Arbor Day foundation--which was kind of a joke because the plants they give you are so small, Sticking tongue out but lilacs are supposed to grow fast so I bought it. I ended up giving it to my mom, though, because I couldn't decide where it would go that I could still appreciate its short-lived fragrance. Now I have a hoya cutting that reportedly smells like lilac, so I'm hoping that's a better substitute. Big Grin

I would have the grapefruit tree for the scent of the flowers alone, regardless of whether it produced fruit or not, which it does in copious quantities.

Honestly, I've never smelled any citrus blossom at all.
I DO want to eventually get some to grow indoors though.
Living where it stays cold for 6 months makes me hungry for fresh things!
