It's hard to pick a favorite, but CHARLIE (Reckamp-Klehm, 1993) was #1 last summer.

Oh, that is a pretty one. Don't think I have ever seen CHARLIE... look at those teeth and tendrils. Reckamp was ahead of his time.

I couldn't choose a single favorite. I have so many that I love, and so many are new so I've yet to see how well they do.
Cindy, I bought SERENA DARK HORSE after seeing your pic on the LA. It bloomed for the first time last year.
Pastime, I love Charlie. I've never heard of it before either. Love the colors.

Here's one that's done very well, and always brings a smile to my face.

You will love it Joy, especially when you get a clump with about 12 scapes all blooming at once.

I am trying to do some organizing before Dave opens the site up to be public.

I moved the Mini Daylilies thread to be under the Chat and Misc. forum. I'd like to keep different types of daylilies listed there that do not have their own forum.

Thanks!

Serena Dark Horse is on my list to get. Love the color.

Techny Spider (Reckamp-Klehm, 1987) is a favorite also. I bought a bunch of these last spring. I didn't get them planted in the ground, so they're still potted in the unheated greenhouse. I'm going to have to shovel my way out there to see what's going on. We're supposed to get a foot of snow today. YUCK!

Yes Techny Spider is a nice one that I have too. Slow to increase here but I still love it. Snow is already falling here. We are supposed to get l0 to 12 inches. I just come back from the grocery store and the roads are already slippery. Now, I think I will stay put for a day or two.

I grew Techny Spider for a while. I loved the few blooms it had. It has been a few years so I don't remember exactly, but I think I got one fan, had it 4-5 years, and it was still one fan when I gave it away.

Well alot of Reckamp/Klehm's are said to be slow increasers but that is nuts. No increase at all? I may have to rethink that one for sure.

I have Techny Breeze and it is doing fine. My Peacock Maiden really struggled for a few years. I even thought I lost it and one year it took off! Once a small root gets up to snuff they take off even if the mature roots don't make it. Seems DLs are genetically programmed to survive.

Wow, only 1 fan from Techny Spider. Mine is not quite that slow. I probably have 6 or 7 fans. Angel's Smile is even slower than TS. I have had it for 4 years and have 3 fans.

Sometimes, I think you can get a "bad division" that just does not thrive.

Perhaps that was the problem with Techny Spider.

ANASTASIA lived here for years without increasing. I had 2-3 fans. But, it rebloomed, usually 2 times a year, and had great branching and budcount. So not sure what to think about that.

If Pastime's plants make it to spring, I'll have Techny Spider in my garden this year. Will just have to wait and see what it does here. Sometimes a plant being slower to increase can be a good thing. As long as it performs well, I won't mind not having to divide so often.

I have to agree with the Techny Spider comments. Mine decreased until it dissapeared. There are a lot of Reckamps that do very well here though. Ruffled Boquet Deluxe, Ruffled Strawberry Parfait, Wide Awake, So beautiful To Me, and Garden Symphony all do well, with very nice branching. Angel's Smile is another one that did just OK, very slow . They are such pretty flowers, all on the teethy side. Anastasia, a Salter, I have two, each in different locations. One is slow, but the other is quite happy. I wish I knew why. Anastasia has such a beautiful bloom. I love that pinching throat !

TECHNY SPIDER (and some of the other Reckamp daylilies) are very finicky plants. They come from a very inbred line and some seem to thrive only in zone 5. TECHNY SPIDER grew great for me when I lived in Michigan, but after I moved to zone 7, the size of the fans decreased year after year until I had to eliminate it from my garden. RUFFLED STRAWBERRY PARFAIT lives here but doesn't have nearly the scape height or branching. It's something to think about if you are a hybridizer because you want to produce daylilies that will live in many differing climates, not just one. I moved four siblings from a cross of TECHNY SPIDER X JUILIE NEWMAR down to North Carolina and 3 of them did the same thing.....dwindled down to nothing before I discarded them. Instead of using Reckamp cultivars, I'm more inclined to use Roy Klehm's. He's had use of the Reckamp line for many years and the Reckamp genetics are in his lines so he has already done the legwork in sorting the weak from the strong in the next generations. The Klehm cultivars are hardy, vigorous plants that increase quickly here.
