Tee,
Check with Lowes. They have them for $22 for a nice size one. You may have to call to order it. So far, I got 5 plants and I plan to keep 2. So I can give you one or maybe two about the same size as above. Out of over 20 seeds, I got 6 plants and so far one died at transplanting into a larger pot. They don't like their roots distrubed. I plan to offer Hetty one or two if she doesn't get the big one from Lowes. These plants were easy except for transplanting.
Thanks to Adam for getting me started with them. I started right after you.
I also got about 15 fancy Aloe out of 20 seeds and they are very slow growing. Still very tiny.

Adam,
Take note from who you buy from. Some of the ones I purchased, I got not one seed to germinate. I know it was bad seed. Maybe passed thru an X-ray or some thing. Too cold or too hot in delivery van. Who knows. But some seed I got an even rate germaination. I now know who to by from and who not to.

Would a mix of 3/4 pumice and 1/4 coco coir work with lithops, haworthia and gasteria seeds? Wanted to add the coco coir just to get some organic matter in there.

Spitz,
Use what you got. Sounds ok. It is fast draining so you must watch that you don't kill your seedlings by drying them out. One mishap means to start all over again. Bottom heat, hi humidity, soil just a little damp. And for weeks. One oops, all over. I use a covered container. Like the take out dishes with the plastic top and black bottom base. Makes a nice tiny greenhouse.
Some start their seeds in a plastic bag moist. When they see the seed germinate, they plant up in a pot with a plastic bag over it.
I use a cactus mix for seed starting then transplant in a month or so into a more gritty mix.
Every one and every where is different. Experiment and report back to us to show us more.

Do I really have to cover even with our humidity that is usually at 90-100%?

Spitz,
Your guess is as good or better than mine. Just keep us informed so we all learn. The hi humidity is needed to keep them from drying out. They don't like wet roots.
