I can adjust to most of the changes easily, with the exception of the current appearance of the homepage layout.

I can and will set my page so that banners display without repeating; however, with the current layout the box on the left containing Randoms and ads drops below the fold. If I consistently use "first unread" I won't see these as much
as I used to. I'd very much prefer that those be reinstated on the upper right of the homepage, but if smaller screens display more clearly on the left I can see why you'd place it there. Some of the darker blue carried over to the right side would definitely balance the page better. How about darkening the background of the area that says Today's Idea? It wouldn't be very much in relative size, but it might be just enough, or better yet, fill in the outline of that box with the darker blue? That's what we used to see over there...a darker blue outlined box.

There are probably plenty of banners with a narrower width that have already been set to run, so maybe an option to fix the repeating issue would be to use the same color background on the right that's being used in the background of the ATP logo on the left? Shrug!

A couple of minor glitches:

*Under the Lists tab there are two of each:

» View your list

» Manage your own list

The two on the right are now misplaced, and probably aren't needed anymore anyway. (?)

*Under the DB tab, all the way at the bottom, some code is showing:
Timer: 6.1 jiffies (0.061023950576782).

*In the Search feature an entry of Peace rose used to show DB (and other) links containing that plant's name; now it just shows Ideas in which it was named.

*There was a black box outline missing somewhere, but I haven't found it again to tell you where it was. Whistling Very minor, but it'll nag at me till I find it again. Hilarious!

All good feedback, Chelle. I've fixed most of the issues you raised and be assured that more work is coming on the homepage.

I'm not even sure if this was an option in the old layout, but when adding new plants to our list, the options after adding one plant says "Access your plant list" and "Close". When adding multiple plants, can an option be added to say "Add another plant" so we can go directly back to typing in the name of the next plant to be added?

Liking the new layout and typeset, and Lovey dubby the icons at the top left! Thanks Dave!

Vickie, that functionality isn't there and will have to be something I address separately from the layout. I'm glad you like the icons, I do, too. Smiling Although based on feedback above I need a different icon for "Your Posts".

This is the kind of good report that shows how valuable beta testing is. I would never have noticed something like this unless it was my own blog I was looking at. I just now fixed it. Thumbs up

Agreed, that seems to be much more aesthetically pleasing.

I'll add that I'll really miss the open and airy feel and the delightfully unique display of the old homepage layout, but I understand about the issues raised by the introduction of smaller devices. Hopefully, this fast rate of technological advancement will one day also open up a workable pathway to being able to provide a choice of which layout works best for each user at any given time. Smiling Wouldn't that be nice? A button that says, Choose Layout Option (with a default setting, of course)! Big Grin

I've come in after all the major changes have been done. The whole change in general really looks nice. While I still would have liked the old "Treemail" name in the present format, doing that in this new format would be very odd. This new format is very up to date, and for new users it will be more intuitive to navigate as the layout conforms with what is becoming the standard. I don't think there is anything that us veterans can't get used to.
Some things I notice:

---- Typing in the search box on any page is still very small:
Thumb of 2013-10-11/Leftwood/1094b7

---- I think the ATP logo gets lost and blends into the left column; it needs to be louder. I know you said it was coded as part of the left column, but is it possible make the box wider by making it look like the box is extended into the banner, when in fact the banner is being pushed over by an added color block? Kinda like this....
Thumb of 2013-10-11/Leftwood/cf5f30

Or, as woofie (and who was the other person?) suggested, separate the the ATP logo and banner from the rest of the page more.

I've adjusted the text in the input search field.

More importantly, I've got the fade from logo to banner up and running!

I am also getting a small amount of banner repeat on the right, which I've never had before. IE. But, I do love the return of the fade...!

Should we disable the repeating and instead just fill the remaining with blue or yellow?
