Maybe he will tell us how to root them. That would be great.
I may go ahead and send mine out but they are so small yet.
I worry when I send things out.

Pack them so they won't get bruised, and not in plastic, like bubble wrap, that'll make them rot.

When they arrive, I'd suggest a FIVE MINUTE, not longer, soak in Superthrive water. Doesn't need to be real strong, the Superthrive. I dip a straw in the bottle to get just a drop or two.

DRs are sponge plants. They don't know when to stop drinking, and they make piggies of themselves, and their cells burst, and they die of rot.

Isn't it a thrill to receive plants from Wilfred!

OK, have fun,

Melissa

Oh, Doris, you might reconsider the pretty green pot, once it's time to repot, you'll have to break the pot to get the roots out.

I transplanted my babies yesterday, I could not believe the
length(of the roots) on a couple of the babies. The roots were growing very good.

Melissa it is in a plastic cup that I can just take out when it gets a little bigger.

Charleen the roots on the larger ones are longer than the plant, I sure was surprised as I thought the roots were short.

Oh my goodness they are so cute. What kind of potting mix do you use for Adenium? When Violet and her siblings come I want to be sure they have the right stuff here waiting for them. I am so excited. Do they lose their leaves from shipping? I know for some plants that's not unusual.

You want me to send them now, or let them get a little larger? I repotted them. Violet is the baby and is so tiny. I thought I would wait.
Just let me know, cause they are yours.

Potting mix--- drain, drain drain. I am beginning to think I'll go get gravel to plant mine in so that I won't drown them!

Got it, 'DRAIN'. Maybe use Al's potting recipe with some extra bark and course sand thrown in?

Probably work. I always get a little scared when I transplant so I keep them on the dry side to be sure.

I water on one side. Then a few days later, I water on the other side. Seems to work so far(after a week, just thought this up!)

I figure if one side is soaked, and the other side/half dry, then the plant can get a good drink, and the water can migrate to the whole pot, and the air can flow around and the roots won't drown.

Make sense? We're talking about an artificial environment, a plant confined in a pot. I'm doing this with all my container plants now.

I thought I knew how to grow stuff until lately, when I've drowned so many plants! Basil, coleus, DRs and others.

Melissa
