Sometimes the bulb uses too much of it's resources to bloom the second year.If the plant is healthy expect blooms next season.

Most of my amaryllis in pots do not bloom every year. I don't know why, maybe too much dryness. The plants in the yard usually bloom every year.

you all are making me jealous all i have are apple blossom and red lion planted out side but going to host co-op this year so i plan to expand my collection do any of you trade small bulb lets ive given some to a bunch of people mine ill get 2-4 per year out side if i let go for a few years its a full patch they have no room and start growing out the ground!

Mike I probably have some small bulbs on at least two of mine. I will look for pictures this weekend and post the two I know that have multiplied. I am going to be building a raised bed this fall I hope so I can have some good drainage for more .

does anyone know how much sun they really need? and how much water they need?
I am getting 35-40 in the next few days and need to know where to plant them mine outside get full sun and little water until rainy season with is now they do good but want to make sure i pick the best location. then im hosting a co-op and i wounder how many ill get threw that? the worst thing is the person giving me the bulbs cant tell me what kind they are. but they are BIG 1 mabe 2 bloom spike big!

Here in Florida they will do fine in full sun PROVIDED they have over wintered in the ground and thus can get accustomed gradually.If in pots I would give them a shady spot.

I HAVE A CO-OP THREAD STARTED for amaryllis and hippeastrum I had to cut choices down but i can get jumbo bulbs 40 cm + come over and see if i can get you something your looking for here is the thread no co-op charge and no charge for bags! will combine with my adenium co-op ship flat rate or cheapest way i can!
