Well this is the kind of post I hate to see, but this is what the hail did to my two Brugs I had put in the ground, and they were doing so good, but "Doris" took a real beating, with the hail and tornadoe.

Thumb of 2011-05-26/kareoke/e7308d this is heartbreaking since it is my named brug.

Im baaack! lol now that I have a house I can play with the brugs now. I do have questions though. I am in zone 8 and I am now in a place where I can plant brugs in the ground. Any advice? How would I overwinter them?

You do nothing special to over winter them. After they freeze remove the part above ground. They come back from the roots...usually.I recommend that you not mulch the roots as I believe it holds too much water around the roots. Most people take a few cuttings before the freeze just as insurance.

hello all, it looks dreary outside but supposed to have sun today.
My daughter drove me all over town to see the damage,it was Gods blessing that no one was hurt, the trees uprooted are on every street, not one was spared, our big City Park is a shambles of downed trees on top of the pick-nick shelters.the ball park goal posts and nets are trashed, this is where the second tornado touched down, on every street there are houses that are damaged and the house next door is not touched, same as with mine, next door were even spared from the hail,it is very amazing . I truly believe this is Gods way of letting us know he is in charge. I am trying to look at this in a positive way, and why just about all my potted plants were destroyed, I do wish he had spared mu brug "Miss Doris" as I had planted it in the ground and it got shredded, but the roots may survive and I can dig her up at the end of the summer.

Doris, thank God you are safe.
And Miss Doris will recover- the leaves are a mess but her structure is still there. I take most of my leaves off when I spray for broadmites and they are all back in a week or two. So sorry for the devastation to your neighborhood and town. Glad you and your family are okey, tho. It has been a rough week or two for the midwest.

Thank you Brenda, and yes it has been tough, it was amazing to see so many trees down and so much damage everywhere, but no injuries so we are all thankful for that.

Where are all the Brug growers, I was hoping to see some pictures to cheer me up,still can't get over the damage in our town out of about 30 potted plants I have maybe 12 left most of those were in the house, some of the plants were lifted right out of the pot, one large plant is still missing, pot and all. now we are having HOT weather, I think the world has gone mad. Rolling my eyes.

I have been several times but this will be their first time, looking forward to our first trip together. When I get back it will be a busy time, I have to have total new roof, siding on back of house and two bedroom ceilings fixed from leaks, also still waiting on Insurance claim.

Sad Sad I got lost...........thought no one liked me any more I haven't seen anything from here. Sure change the thread, hoping I wouldn't find you HUH? Almost didn't.

My brugs are all looking, that's about it. I couldn't get them out on the patio as early as I usually did because the temps wouldn't cooperate and had my first ever spider mite infestation............I removed all leaves on ALL of them and cut some back pretty much. I managed to get a new garden bed to plant but don't know when seeing as I can't make up mind on exactly what I want so right now it is housing a whole bunch of potted brugs plants. Three of them have buds on them already. I put them out on the patio finally May something and said well if it gets cold again you're on your own but it didn't and I am ever so thankful for that

So here they are today. They don't look so very good, least not like Williams, or JT's or most of the ones posted on here, but they're mine *Blush* :whistling Course there are two missing since my son came over and talked me out of one of the yellow noids, and a Monster White.

Cece no one has posted for awhile, must be too busy.
Your plants are looking good, reminds me of me a few years back, I got up to 112 plants all sizes that I lugged in and out of the house and babied all winter now I have three I am trying to save in the ground for the summer,I have to admit I miss them but I also miss all the hard work and I don't mind that at all.

I am still waiting for William (chocolate brug) to post
