Alex is getting the worst of this horrid cold but Margaret is not doing so great either. You guys down south I know are not used to anything getting even near cold so I guess that is really cold for down your ways.

Cold here today but at least the sun is shining. Was really, really cold overnight. We haven't been this cold around here in 20 years and I am not kidding. Heard that on the weather news.

My driveway is still not shoveled and I am not going to be shoveling today. Just too cold for me to spend lots of time outside.

You got one of those too, @fiwit -- but mine says starting Sunday Morning and ending whenever with an accumulation of up to 8 inches of snow and ice and 3 days of below zero temps. I. Cannot. Wait. Thumbs down

Funny thing about my bones, they've been telling me for a couple of days that something is happening, so I listen to my bones and am going out to pick up some extra dog food. I think that will pretty well cover everything I might need.

First time this kind of weather hit KY in maybe almost 20 years, then 20 years before that it happened again. I'm seeing cycles here.

Y'all stay warm and safe. And @fiwit, so will I. Thanks.

Oh, my goodness, Mary! I had not seen this. I had planned to go to the store Monday when I have a dentist appt. I better go tomorrow after church. There may not be any bread on the shelves by then. We live in the county west of Mary. The dentist appt. can be rescheduled.

It got down to 21° last night. I left my faucet dripping in bathroom because hot water tank is in garage. So as long as it is dripping the tank will come on at least once per hour. The pipes to the washer are right beside the tank so I never insulate the tank, that little bit of heat keeps my pipes from freezing and seldom do I see the thermometer below 40 in the garage.

Right now it is 43 and that is probably our high, tomorrow will get up to 60° and then for Tuesday the high is 25°....yes, I said 25! It is supposed to get down to get down to 15° Tuesday night! (gasping for air) I am going to die...we never ever get that cold and the record low of 13° was set in 1884.

They might change my zone back to 7b. LOL. This will bring down the averages a lot, plus we did not get that hot this past summer, the year before we hit 99 or 100 on several occasions. But the worst thing was the endless days of 95+ and the staggering humidity!!

Some days I had to wait till after 9:00 to do my yard work, yes.....it was dark but at least I was breathing. I found out it is hard to do anything if you cannot breath. My neighbors think I am weard anyway, I am usually hunched over with a camera stuck to my face. LOL.

Mary, doesn't sound too good for the weather at your house either.

It honestly was not as bad outside today as I had thought. It was 22 degrees mid afternoon. Still, I didn't stay outside. I am already ready for spring to come.

OMG, Sharon…..Talk about being housebound. Maybe you can write that best selling novel, or begin a book on short stories. My heart goes out to you with that forecast. To be honest, in the last month, I have spent more time at home, and less time in my car with ice storms, arctic temps, and huge snow storms. I just don't want to risk something happening to my car, and freezing to death while waiting for help. I actually knew a woman who that happened to several years ago. Very tragic. So stay home and stay warm. This, too, will pass.

From looking at Vermont's weather forecast for the next week, I do believe we will be somewhat spared from the arctic blast that those of you who live in the Midwest and Southeast are going to experience. The predicted low for Tuesday is 2+ degrees but warming up to 37 degrees by next Friday. Yippeee! Hurray! Monday and Tues. are the worst days with rain, sleet, ice and snow, but with little accumulation. Strong cold winds will be a big factor in the coming week for all of us. But those winds will eventually bring about a warming trend and back to more normal temps. When in doubt, don't drive, stay home, stay warm, and be safe.! It is now +12 degrees here, now that the sun has disappeared behind the mountain.
