My birds got a second helping today too. They are saying minus 1 degrees tonight but a warmup to 30 tomorrow. That will seem like a heatwave for sure.

expected to be very windy overnight. So could be power outages. I am sure hoping not because it is supposed to be really cold over night.

Point well taken, Linda, except for the fact that 10 days ago we had 2 days of rain which froze to 1/2" of ice on trees and roads, causing over 60,000 people in Northern Vt to experience power outages which lasted for some over a week in duration. I believe I was referring to the extreme weather patterns we are experiencing in Vermont. 'Global warming' is a term often overused especially when the temps drop to -30 degrees. Seems absurd! But then again, when Hurricane Irene hit 'landlocked' Vermont 2 yrs. ago, and destroyed 1250 homes, causing millions of dollars in damages to the infrastructure of this state, along with loss of life, one has to ask, what is going on here? A hurricane in Vermont?

I would like to send well wishes to our friends in the Northeast as this Nor'easter/Blizzard pushes through tonight. They are expecting between 12 and 18 inches of snow for parts of New York and New Jersey and other parts in the northeast. Some places in New York will wake up to -5° and in Maine -23°!
Here it is mostly rain, it has been raining all day and is supposed to turn to snow as temps drop into the 20's but the wind will make it seem more like zero! I am worried about the ice in the morning because we will not get above 31 tomorrow. I hate ice, especially the shinny kind. On New Years morning, because of a lack of traffic the dew on the roads froze and turned into Black Ice and that is the kind you cannot see till you begin skating. Crying (lots of accidents here.)

Stay safe. Long Island is in for a doozy of a storm. High tides, heavy snowfall, and very cold winds. Hope you do not lose power. Keep us informed as best you can.

Temps here are now -10 degrees and snowing. Furnace is working overtime.

We don't often get this cold. And lots of snow coming and winter blizzard conditions expected overnight. It is snowing out there now pretty good and not much visibility.

We are getting socked here on the northeast coast with this snow storm and the excessive cold. Looking outside now, it is coming down heavily and it is windy outside.

A snow plow just went thru and plowed our street. I guess I should go to bed, it is late and sitting up isn't going to make there be any less snow come down.

Good Morning. I hope everyone is making out ok. I see the Weather Channel (weather.com) is at Logan Airport in Boston, they are talking about the dangerous windchill's. Boston is around -30 and New York -5. Lots of snow out there but it stopped raining here before the temps dropped so no ice that I can see just cold frigid winds. Bundle up!

Rita, glad you are ok. I do not know your exact location but for the North Shore they are saying close to 7 inches in the past 24 hours.

No snow here in GA, but it's a chilly 17F this morning, with windchill of 7. Nothing compared to the north, but the coldest we've had so far this season. And just yesterday I was telling my boss how we hadn't dipped below 20 yet - guess I jinxed us.
