Anne : If you can just get thru the Holidays winter is actually shorter than you think.
Its about a month and a half til January, after that comes February which is always short and March for many of us is the first time we see perennials emerging.

I just don't like cold weather at all. I'd certainly move back down to south Florida in a heartbeat if it hadn't been ruined by too many people and indiscriminate building.

Pinguicula is a carnivorous plant. It attracts fungus gnats and other flying things that makes the mistake of sticking to its leaves. Well, I guess it gets fed with steak..fungus gnat steak

Tarev, the light from that big window gives them that need edge. Love the blooms.
Jo Ann, don't forget that Ann started this thread with blooms back in January. If history repeats itself that's less than a month and a half away.
It's the nasty weather and lack of color (beyond white or brown/green grass) that I find so depressing. I feel like I'm under some sort of nature imposed lockdown.
I totally hate the cold, but I think it's the constant darkness that gets to me most. I actually bought myself a bright light therapy light, and I use it. When we "fall back" in autumn, my internal clock doesn't reset. Whereas I get up around 5 to 6 a.m. in summer, in winter it's more like 4 to 5 a.m. I am up hours before the sun when the rest of the world is asleep. As a result I usually fall asleep trying to read way too early in the evening. Very depressing.
