Still to hot to want to do much. Planted a couple of clearance plants and pulled a few weeds.

Turned on one sprinkler and turned it off four hours later. It was just for the rose and tomato garden. Too hot to think about tying up dahlias.

Planted two new hydrangeas in my front flowerbeds, then spent two hours cutting back my mom's false spirea shrubs that have overgrown her other plants in her main front yard centre flowerbed. Spent the rest of the day playing chauffeur to my parents for medical appointments and shopping.

@Rose1656 I know exactly what you are talking about with the Trumpet Vine. Before I knew how it operated, I must have planted at least 6 or 8 of them. I decided I didn't want them anymore because they just weren't doing what I wanted them to do so I decided to get rid of them. WRONG.... I am still trying to kill them. New shoots are popping up all over the areas where they were. I have tried Tordon on their roots which only stops the one I treat. I am still using round up on them, but it only kills what is sprayed and it pops up again some place else. I refuse to dig up the whole area to get the roots so I guess I will continue to do what I am doing. Good luck with your efforts.

Well that's discouraging news Jeanne! I guess I'll just plan on spraying round up on those areas a couple times a year and let the next owners worry about it!

With tough Roundup failures, I have had luck with a brush killer. Actually worked on pine about 5 feet high..and I had this weed that looks like a violet ( but isn't ) it is used by the chinese for medicinal purposes..I forget its name but notorious for its tenacity..underground attack..shoots everywhere. It worked on thst too but needed a few doses.

Nothing! It's been raining off and on since this morning. Nice steady type of rain without high winds. I had a large tree from the wild property behind my property come down and take out a section of fence last Wednesday. It took an 8" diameter branch from a tree in my yard with it. It is a mess back there. A lot of things really got mashed and squashed. I had hoped to get working on it this morning but the rain has prohibited that. I bought a new chainsaw and was rally looking forward to using it. I can't get to my garden shed or my waste and recycling bins until I get some of it removed. The good news is that I am going to throw all of the debris back over the fence where it cam from. I would estimate that the tree which created the mess is about 18-20" in diameter. It was about 40' tall so you can imagine all of the branches in the crown of that tree. It missed the house by about 20 ft.

Yesterday I cleared out some veggies from my raised beds that were done producing. I got all my Iris planted and watered. Then I picked my first tomato. I am sure there must be more but I can't see inside the plants to see if there are any ripe ones due to all the leaves and green tomatoes. I also picked the end of my peas. Today I will pull out the rest of the pea plants. Yesterday I pulled all my beets and got a pot of the smallest ones ready for canning. I will work on the balance of them today along with the carrots I harvested. They were planted way too think. They are very long but narrow.

I worked on the mess in my backyard, It looks like a disaster zone with all of the squashed plants and tree debris. I can now get to my shed and trash bins. There will be more sunshine in the backyard now. I may lose a few things but that only provides an opportunity to try something new. I am sure most will look great again next year.

It has been raining here most of the day so far. Either a heavy rain or a light drizzle. I managed to go out and get some pictures of my flowers and beds before it rained too much. I hope I don't bore you with my many pictures. Here goes. These are pictures of my front yard and the South side of my yard and around the cement drive way along side the garage.

These pictures are the front north side looking off the deck.

This is where I like to sit in the evening and watch the sun set with a cocktail. In the second picture I just redid this walkway off the cement. It used to be cement foot prints.

In the second picture I am going to redo the walkway and make it all flower bed and not a walkway. The first picture is the area just before it.

These are pictures of both ends of the dump rake bed. This yellow flower sure does reseed. It has spread to outside the rock border. I had hoped to dig them up and transplant them but just have not gotten around to it yet.

My grandson brought me this oak tree to plant that they grew in school. The ferris wheel came from a friend. My brother made this outhouse for me. The door does not open but it is made out of scrape barn boards from a project of his.

This is the electric pole bed where my oldest Gladiolus are planted. Not sure what happened to them this year. They never bloomed right this year. The second picture if the guide wire bed with no flowers. It is a little people playground/park.

I have to go now but will post pictures of my flowers along the pasture fence and along my back yard fence another day/time. I hope I did not bore anyone.

@MISSINGROSIE Thanks. I really wish I wasn't that way sometimes because it takes so long to get things done. I like doing things myself so they are done the way I want them. I have friends that would help me but I feel I am too particular so don't ask for help. Here are pictures of my south side pasture fence bed.
The area on the right in the first picture is a new addition which connects to the 2 rail side bed. I plan to get new plants put there yet this summer. You can see my desert scene.

I painted these tires several years ago. They are keeping their color really well. I have added new plants especially Iris and Daylily this year. I have room for more plants to be added in the future.

My Balloon Flower has really spread well from seed. The Butterfly Bush is one we got in TN last year when we were there for a wedding. I was so happy to see it come back this year.
