Well, maybe these terrible pictures will give you a hint then - they had the usual collection of Phals, a few Dens, a couple of Encyclias and this one. Maybe either a really dark Miltassia, or a Zygopetalum? Had to put it in my white bathtub to get enough light for the cell phone camera. Good camera just wasn't up to the task of close-ups with a flash. (last pic, poor color but better flower detail)

Ursula,
Looking into the background of your pics always makes me think I'm at an Orchid Show....
I love the Potinara Fairyland too, I'm a huge fan of the window sill types even tho I don't grow them inside the house. But they fit into the greenhouse much easier come cold weather.

Jim - I like your C. Gene May X Lc. Spoz Tabee Splash - freckled blooms are a favorite of mine also.

Elaine, we got all the rain that missed you and like Jim, I'll take all we can get in the month of May. My horse pastures are green and lush and the ponies just love it.
Zygopetalum is on my wish list. Every time I pop into EFG I look at them. Just a little pricy there.

I've got lots budding up but only a few Phal stragglers left. So hopefully some blooms to show soon.
God gave us wings. He just called them horses

Woo, hoo Hurray! . Guess I lucked out on this one, a bargoon for only $12.

Just a very slight fragrance so far, but maybe when it warms up a bit? The weather is unseasonably cool and dry today, and this baby has been indoors in the a/c for who knows how long.

I read up on it in bed last night, seems it likes to be moist, low-ish light and warm - sounds like it will like my conditions! Now to extract it from the pot . . . it's in all sphagnum, and an unvented clay pot, but it seems to be firmly attached to the pot, unfortunately. Will wait until the blooms finish then get after it. May have to break the pot.

A lovely day here in Fair Lawn! Sunny and gorgeous after all that rain yesterday!
I am still a bit slow to bring the main bulk of Orchids outside, we are again talking of night time temps in the low forties. But at least it will be sunny and should warm up quickly during the day. Perhaps by Tuesday I can really go at it!

We had lows near 60 here last night, and got to sleep with the windows open, almost an unknown treat in mid-May! That's a deep, strong cold front!

Yep, we have been chilly (early mornings) for three days. I had to switch from AC to heat!

Beautiful day here too. Just opening the first of many flowers is Schomburgkia (now Mcp.) grandiflora 'Classic Beauty'. It has two nice spikes working, the longest is 54 inches. It is a first time bloomer for me as I have owned it for about two years.

PS. On the whole plant picture, this orchid is mounted on the large slab of wood near the bottom center of the photo. The spike goes to the right and up just past the top of the window. These species Schomburgkias are not about space saving.

Beautiful colors there, Jim. It looks like it's glowing! Is that a second spike in the last picture, below that first huge one? Way to grow. Hurray!

I love it Jim. I hope to see my Myrm. grandiflora bloom this summer, but who knows. I have sourced two pictures and though the grower says it will be the darker flower, I would like to confirm this with my own eyes. Mine are all potted, not mounted.

Thanks, guys. Yes, Elaine, that is the second spike you are looking at. It probably has another foot or so to grow before opening the flowers. I'll take this one to the next club meeting for judging.

Good morning all. Ken, have you been on vac, your pick background ain't Starkville?
Here's looking at me this am, it's been below 50 for a while and I've have budded plants indoors so they won't blast. This coming weeks end we will be 90. I can't go to the last day of our orchid show today, I had planned on getting the names of plants that I had taken pics of during set-up. Especially that big Phrag.

Here's Lc Ann Agaki'H&R', I've had for about 3years.

And Trichophilia hennisiana smells so fine. Only had for about a month.

Those are lovely, Bert. Always like an orchid even more if it is fragrant, which Hurray! my new Zygo now is, also. Smiling
