I'm interested in what other houseplants people grow.
I grow hoyas, epiphyllums, walking iris, clivias, cacti and hippeastrums and one hibiscus seen here.

I grow Cacti & Succulents with emphasis on Fat Plants and Stapeliads, Epiphyllums, some Hoyas, Rhipsalis, colorful Euphorbia x lomi ( Thai-Giants), a couple of Passifloras, a few Begonias and some other odds and ends.

The picture shows Astrophytum asterias 'Super Kabuto'

That is gorgeous, Ursula!! I have a cactus that I just got that has the white spots. I haven't IDed it yet and I missed shooting the first blossom.
Glad you like the new forum and threads. I figured orchid people are the ones I like to share with the most! And gardening season is beginning now.

It is pretty, isn't it. Maybe yours is also an Astrophytum?
I like the idea of having a forum within THIS cubit, where we can share our other stuff....as I just noticed today a budding Pachypodium horombense high up in the greenhouse and was wondering if a few pictures of the blooms would be of interest to anyone.

Here's the spotty cactus Ursula. Might be Astrophytum myriostigma, although my flower was more compact according to my illustrated dictionary.

Double hibiscus. I'm really struggling with my new laptop. My old one died just before we left FL and all of my photos look washed out for some reason. Have to get my computer guru husband to take a look.

That's an amazing plant! I have finally given my Easter and Christmas cactuses away. But some of my epis are budding and I have tons of those. This year my cuttings of names varieties from 4 years ago are starting to bud. I am beside myself with excitement!!! I am NOT moving them as in bud blast, but I'm now watering weekly with fertilizer. Epis are hard for me. I collected them without results on pure faith!! When do they bloom for you in FL, Jean?

The color looks good on this end. Do you know how to set the monitor?

I'll check the monitor. The epi oxy is the only one I have that blooms. I got 17 new ones last summer and don't know how long I will have to wait for them to bloom. Last year, the epi bloomed in FL in September. Happened to be there for it. The ones that stay in the sunroom had four flushes last year, the first one occurring in May and the last one was in October, I believe. The fragrance is heavenly.

Wow! Four!! That's really impressive. I'm lucky to get one! Are the oxys the night bloomers?

The one in FL belonged to my grandmother. The ones I have in the sunroom are its babies. The first couple of times they bloomed, I missed them. They start to open late in the afternoon and if you don't check them every day, you wake up the next morning, and they have bloomed without you seeing them! I don't know if that is what is making them bloom, but I cut up banana peels and just lay them in the pot. They turn black in a couple of days so you can't really see them and they just blend in with the soil.

I have a big fat cactus that is night blooming but luckily the buds (2-3) open sequentially so I always miss the first one and can catch the others due to better monitoring! I also have some plants (hippeastrums) from my grandmother.

I was utterly devastated when we got to FL this winter and I thought that I had killed my grandmother's plant. We had some trees cut and I forgot that their shade wasn't there any more so my plant got sunburned. However, after bringing it inside and cutting back the sunburned leaves and giving it some bananas, it now has 6 new spikes coming out, and when we left FL I made sure we put it outside in the SHADE!

Mine are growing now and I will get them outside in a couple of weeks. But they will not put on a show until late Spring around here.
