Can you imagine, Mary Ann, what people would think if they could hear us standing in the garden and yelling 'PHLOX!' ...its bad enough to be going around singing Rob's ditty 'you gotta dip, dip, before you ship, ship,' What next.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?

Just a few minutes ago a lady came to get some irises, and the first thing she said was, "What kind of phlox are those? They're beautiful. So I gave her the name, and she is going to try to find some.

the PH word is phlox, or as the saying goes "Let's make like a bird, and get the flock out of here! kind of a play on the F bomb! *Blush*

Reference originated here, Jan Big Grin

UndertheSun said:Yes Tom, that is the one I was asking about. I like it! Thumbs up I'll look for it at the nursery near the iris auction tomorrow.

When I saw the missing irises I think I yelled out "oh phlox"....or something like it. Whistling

tveguy3 said:Oh, Now I know what you mean, those are Phlox, the name of it is "Bright Eyes". The spider wart is the light green grassy looking stuff behind the blue bi-tone historic. I did take a close of it, but for some reason I don't know what I did with it. I'll keep searching or take another one. It's really nice right now. Each bloom is pink with a darker pink center.

Oh Well, I'm too slow on the uptake. Well, I guess you guys fingured everything out, and as we speak, Rob is bidding his heart out buying lots of irises to fill in the open spots left by the gnomes. Running up the prices so the poor people will have to dig in their pockets to pay for any that they are lucky enough to get. I sure hope they get some rain out their so that it's not all for naught. I just got a box from the South! loaded with little ones and a few big ones. Now I have to get them all inventoried and markers made and planted. I just thought I was catching up. Hilarious! Like that's possible.

Thanks. Bright Eyes it is.

Tom - you mentioned that a lady was coming by your place to pick up irises. You still
have irises blooming? Are they re-bloomers? - It's been many weeks since I've had any blooming
but you have many more than I do. I'll catch up a little next year!

Oh no, they are all dormant now. I only have a couple re-bloomers and only one Immortality has ever been consistant. Usually it's much later before she blooms, and often gets frozen, or eaten by Japanese beetles. Grumbling
