I just leave mine sit in a covered place. I think David kept a bag over his because he made them outside & was protecting them from rain.

Still curing...will check on it again this weekend, but so far, they look great!
On another note:

I am trying to figure out how I could make some semblance of an ocean wave with this new concept of cloth and cement....any ideas? My brain is in overdrive!

Well, to be honest, my brain is still rolling with ideas (get it? Wave theme!) so I am not with one specific idea yet....what I am trying to do is create a little free library:
http://littlefreelibrary.org/

The area it will go is at a crab shack so the guy said if I was to install something on his property it MUST have a crab theme. So it would be an ocean wave below the crab shack (little free library) or a big wave floating up to the crab shack, etc. I really am uncertain so I am trying to gather ideas. I have a woodworker and a welder willing to join in and if I can do a concrete wave of sorts to put crabs on it, that could work....

Okay, there are some small cracks that are now on the bottom, but if I read correctly, I can paint a bit more cement on it and it should be fine. I was thinking I might take a piece of cloth and add it to the bottom to reinforce. Good idea? Bad?

Don't see why you can't reinforce w/another piece.

I just picked up some cement dye (& 2 more bags of cement) today so hope to try that tmrw. Also got some spray & reg paint.

Have made red & terra cotta colored planters. I like the shades I've come up with.
Also experimenting with different shapes. Working on a 6 sided lampshade gives a very unique shape (it already sold). Hit a rummage sale this AM to get some different shaped forms. Have 4 new ones setting up.
Yesterday I taught a class on making these at the County Extension Office. A friend assisted & it is easier (and cleaner) with an extra pair of hands.

I do need to call him. As far as I can tell, he's no longer using his business web site.

I do need to get some good pics - before I sell them!!!!

Hurray! David I hope you know how much all of us have missed you. I am so glad you are back, was worried that something had happened to you. Group hug

Now I have to go back and take the time to look at your new photos. Hurray! Green Grin!

Oh David, those are beautiful. One looks like it's made from granite with veins of gold running through it. Some look like pieces of pottery (third photo, reddish one on the left). How did you get that affect?
They are all amazing. You have really been busy. Hurray!

Hey Bev! Look at this Aluminum can flower. I'm just starting to design them and will be showing a bouquet of different styles in certain Cloth and cement pots here soon. The pots make great ornamental vases too. Smiling

Thanks for sharing this latest creation, David. Can I ask why the three beer cans? Is the flower very large or does each individual leaf and petal take large measure of can metal to incorporate the realistic curves and bends of a flower head exposed to weather?

The flower is very large bev. They measure 12 inches across. It takes one can for the base leaves, and two more to create the outer and inner petals...

Good Morning from DeLand! Smiling
