This art work by Scottish artist Andy McClintock seems to be a similar technique using cement/concrete saturated clothing . He actually gave a demo of his technique at the exhibition in Carton House county Kildare recently . Unfortunately I missed the event so can not elaborate further .
Looks a lot like an inversion of the original pots posted by Cinta .

Very interesting Paddy. I wonder how he kept the form in place. It looks so natural, like the children just evaporated and left their clothing behind.

Yes most kids these days hang around well into adulthood and almost old age.

David are you painting the cans? Are they 12ozor 16 oz cans? I did one for another topic that someone asked about and he/she wanted to make big flowers.

The thread "Has anyone made these?" in Garden Art forum

I certainly agree with Lynn Paddy;............................ Interesting, fascinating, macabre and fabulous! Thank you for sharing those concrete cloth wonders. Thumbs up

Hilarious! Bev!

They are 12 and 16 Cinta. I'm telling all my friends to save any extra big cans they come by too like those huge Arizona Tea cans. I'm going to look at that sight you added after I send this...

David I sent you there because I thought you could help her/him because they were asking if someone had made any. I saw from your pics you have mastered the craft but I am not surprised you are so good. Hilarious!

I was looking at those Arizona cans they would make good flowers and they would not have to be painted.

I want to get better at it and always love seeing others creations Cinta. The You Tube one you sent was most effective indeed. I loved the motorcycle art a lot and LOVED the dragon from pop tops!

I am aiming to try Irises and Orchids next. We'll see what evolves... Shrug! Smiling

Great children sculptures. Just off the top of my head I wonder if armatures wrapped in newspaper could have been used.

Wow David......................too bad I'm a beer snob & only drink bottled!!!! I do have some friends with less refined tastes so guess I need to have them save me some cans.

I'm thinking the clothes were done similar to how they make the balls. Much thinner mixture painted on with many coats. I was going to try something similar and make a form from 2X4 & chicken wire. Figured I could unscrew the 2X 4 when done & leave the chicken with inside the forms. Haven't gotten that far yet.

Coralline algaes are what grow on objects in the sea and are the seas version of lichens to me. I used to do true reef tanks with corals and living sealife in the restaurant in New Orleans. I grew to understand how colorful coralline algaes could be and also how costly it was to do that hobby and share the tanks with the public when the storm Katrina came through and forced a month and a half evacuation on us and losing all the critters and living things I loved in those tanks....... The looks in them are in my memory. I don't do reef tanks anymore as now I realize while I was very good at them for a point in time, it is a wealthy mans hobby.

This pot and my sea themed pots are an inspiration from those days...

Both sections of this planter have drain holes, and I am hardening off some echeverias. The beauty berries are about done and I incorporated a bouquet with one of my aluminum can flowers for effect in this shot to show the versatility of these pots. They can be planted and bromeliads, succulents, and those families would be my personal choice yet the sky is the limit on faux or real bouquets in containers then isn't it? Smiling

I'm sure I'll be chattering about all the other cosmic concepts I'm dreaming up somewhere soon............................Bee - Bo - Bop! I tip my hat to you.

Oh David, it's so wonderful to hear about your interests and inspirations from your previous life. We are so lucky that you enable us to visualize that past as you give us a peek into your current colorful creations and share with us your thoughts. Thank you very much!

Can I ask you which echeverias you manage to harden off? I notice you are in same zone as I and I have this winter been planning to leave my echeverias outside and hope that come Spring they are still alive. I have various cultivars of E. setosa, imbricata, puldonis, agavoides and am testing them with Tuff Love...

Mine is E. glauca Bev......,and Thank you! Smiling Mine fair well in our winters. I'm starting a new batch though. The ones in the container picture are small as mature plants can easily reach 10 inches in diameter if grown happily. Mine usually only reach about 6 inches in diameter at best and I'm hoping to get better results with them in the future...

Good night! Dream well......

I finally made some of these. Hurray! I started last Monday and just put on a coat of Portland cement/paint coat on today for my final finish. I'm really excited that it actually worked! Now that I know it can be done and got the feel of it, it is time to get creative with it. Thank you everyone who made this thread inspire me. I have had a lot of fun making these and I am already to start my next batch.

They are wonderful Audrey. How long did it take from beginning the project, until the end application of Portland cement/paint application?

So nice to have David back..............someone who gets up earlier than I do!!!!!
Once the weather cooled off, I found the portland more difficult to work with. So I've taken a break till Spring!!!!
