Hello everyone, It is looking and feeling like Spring in the day time but still a little chilly at night. I feel a little antsy about moving things out of the GH just now. Yes I did manage to save some stuff. I did much better this year. I added heat and remembered to water more. I even saved a mother plant from two of my coleus. What a surprise. Now if I can get the babies to root. I had a corner of the dining room that I kept blooming all winter.

It made not having coleus easier to bear. Looking forward to the new season. Need some fun around here. shirleyt

Hi Juanita you puttering possum you. I did not know that was you. How are you doing. I have good days and bad. I try to stay very busy doing fun things. When I feel myself slipping I get going and find something to do . It will be easier now to find fun with Spring coming. I worked in the gardens some today. Leaves have all fallen and there is quiet a clean up job to do. Still have about a quarter of the three acres to do. It is always hardest climbing out of winter leaves. The big live oak drops all its leaves at once and puts out almost at the same time. If you blink you miss the bareness of the tree. And there is the general clean up. The magnolias make a mess not to mention the pines. It is time to cut back all the lantana the confederate roses. Work is the name of the game around here now. And guess what I can only do a couple hours and I have had enough for the day. I hate that. I guess its called old. I used to work all day and have this place looking like a park in three days. Well those days are gone.

I will pull my head out of farmville, just as soon as things start popping into garden centers..lol We went last week as a trial run but no one had anything.. And with having to start over almost from scratch I will be doing some serious nursery hopping this year.. We have alot to replace All of my Hibcus are gone along with all the plumeria and almost all the vines did not make the extreme cold we had this year..BUT I see it as a new garden adventure.....

On a happy note, DH DID get the tiki/old barn/ bar finished I hope to get photos today.

Shirley I understand what you mean about the leaves. I feel like I never get rid of them. We are on 18 acres of woods and we have a lot of pin oaks which will drop very shortly now. It seems like there is never any getting ahead of it. With the winter we had I am still trying to get all the damage cleaned up (which I'm sure you know about too) and then in the midst of it all we had carpet put down this week upstairs. So I have been trinyg to reassemble the entire household in one way or another.

Pheadra I wanna see pics! Did you lose everything in your greenhouse?? What a trauma that must have been. YIKES!

Shirley, I was so busy last week that I barely got to a computer. It was spring break here and when I wasn't busy with Braden & Xander I was working so hard trying to play catch up on all the work I should have been doing since November. And I have to say... yippeee, I almost got it all done. I decided that if I was going to have time to play outside when spring finally gets here I best use this time to get all my inside stuff done. It was tough but feels so much better now.

Great pics everyone. Unfortunately anything that was starting to bud out around here was blasted by an arctic freeze yesterday. Amazing that it was over 70 degrees on Friday and we had an amazing blizzard in the making when I got out of bed on Saturday.

Pheadra, I feel for you. I lost absolutely everything this year too. I just didn't have it in me when the time came for all of it to come inside. I knew I would regret it and I sure do now. I had so many tropicals that I've had for years & years. The one that I really hated losing was a Red Abyssinian that Kell sent me a few years ago. It was fantastic!!!

Juanita, I can't imagine all the work you've been doing trying to move everything around for new carpet and floors. Makes me tired just to think about it. Are you having a blizzard at your house now?

Well... back to work for me. School starts again tomorrow so I might find some peace & quiet. LOL

OY Vey!! I finally have everything back together upstairs from the carpet fiasco. What a trip. Long story, but not a great experience. It is no wonder the economy of this country is in trouble. No one knows what they are doing. I am so beat I can barely think. Back to work tomorrow in the rain probably.

Yipee Brinda! You are my inspiration!
I am is a state of shock and deep despair over what I have lost too.
I am just trying to muster the energy to get rid of everything that's overgrown and unwanted.
The thriving Dollar Weed, Sword Ferns, Wild Blackberry, Spiderwort, Sweetbrier, and Ajuga are growing by leaps and bounds!
I too see this as an opportunity to start over.
I was reading in a journal where I had purchased 3 Creeping Coreopsis, Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing That's the dreaded Daisy vine and it's invasive in Florida. Dear God please let that be dead.
Then the runaway Bleeding Heart vine so sweetly dug for me.
Now I understand why he had it planted where it was surrounded by cement on all 4 sides. Dear God Please let that be dead.
We are having a nice slow rain today and I have only about a half dozen plants still living. I'm not even sure if my four 15' Crepe Myrtles are still living, or not.
I'm fairly sure I lost four kinds of Duranta, six different Hibiscus, three kinds of Porterweed, and possibly a Lace-leafed Japanese Maple.
My Lantana is okay, my Knockouts liked the cold, and my native azaleas are blooming.
Jaunita, that sound scarey!
This is what my Taggets looked like last Fall.
'sigh'

You got all that "since last November" paperwork done! That's my inspiration to finish up the last 3 things for my DM's estate. She left me orphaned 7 years ago June 1.
They have 30% to 35% off of all sorts of neat bulbs at http://cubits.org/notfortheserious/thread/view/15005/
You can see all the goodies here http://www.easytogrowbulbs.com/index.asp
I ordered 3 kinds of Oxalis, Some nut orchids and a Giraffe Dalia. They will really kick my coleus! Co-op still open until tomorrow.

Noooooo... I didn't get all 'that' paperwork done. I've barely done anything that has to do with Mom's estate. It's just so depressing to even think of doing right now. What I got done is all the work that I should have been doing with my job. I know my boss is so proud of me. LOL

Well, we had a monster blizzard over the weekend and in the 70's yesterday. LOL I just love Oklahoma weather. (NOT)

Anyone interested??? Cuttings co-op thread is over here.... http://cubits.org/chatters/thread/view/15752/

Rolling on the floor laughing You mean your making Coleus $$s.
As far as your sweet mom's things, according to me you have 7 years.
A blizzard is a good time to catch up.
I know that the longer a house sets unoccupied the harder it is to sell it.
I had a dear old friend who told me to wait a year before I did anything and I wish I had not listened to her.
I'm comparing coleus picture between Map Questing mileage between towns where I worked.

Brin maybe you can do the Mom stuff in spurts. A technique I learned while dealing with Fema. Do one thing a week. Organize what you have to do. Then do one thing a week until it is all done. I apply this to even house work. I plan what I need to do for the day. Do a spurt of work on the list and then do as I like. Do a spurt and do what I like. By the end of the day list is done and I have had a nice relaxing day. Oh and it is always good to get the machines working when your not. lol Leaving things hang over your head will just keep you miserable. Take care.Spring is in the air. shirleyt

Yes Shine, I was making Coleus $$$ LOL

I do not plan to sell my Mom's house, we plan to keep it and make it rental property. But there is so much to do over there before we can even think of renting it. I will have to go thru every single paper and believe me, she has tons. A few weeks ago, I noticed that she had my grandparent's insurance papers when they lived with her back in the 80's. Believe me, my Sweet Mom never threw anything away.

We were in the process of looking for a new home when she died. And at first I didn't even want to look anymore but things have changed since then and I am looking like crazy now. But there just isn't anything on the market that we like other than that monster home a couple weeks ago and it's way too big. But one did come on the market yesterday that we are going to see today. I'm really excited about it as it seems to have everything that we want, but again it's bigger than we had planned. So, if things happen like we want them to... we'll be clearing out this house before we get the chance to take care of her home.

Shirley, you have such a great attitude and I'm loving your pic. Is that a magnolia? Braden's Nan has one too and I love it so much. Such pretty little blooms.

I need to adopt your attitude and get my life back in order. I just sat down last night and made a very long list of all things that needed done around here. And of course, the list is quite lengthy with spring 'springing' all around us.

The trees are budding and the birds are singing! Have a beautiful day everyone!!!!

Good luck on the house. It would take a great deal of $ to furnish that beautiful last one.
I too am being inspired by our sweet Shirleyt.
Thanks Shirley.
Just flying through. Thumbs up

Hey everyone , Yes that is a Magnolia. It is one of the first signs of Spring here. I do not know its botanical name. We just call it the tulip Magnolia because of the shape of its flowers. This year we added two white ones to our collection. Last year we added two Gems. They look like a regular magnolia only smaller in size all around. Good for focal points in garden. If you have time hop over to the Welcome to Holiday crafts forum . I posted my crochet there and no one is visiting. Have a good day..I am off to paint a masterpiece. Sandy is on a trip to San Antonio with the band. They insisted on taking her as a guest and are paying all expenses for four days. How cool is that? That means I have alone alone time and I am going to paint paint paint. I already did some coleus babies today. Forget about clean clean clean ...maybe tomorrow not today. Oh just a can you believe it note .... for Sandy to go on this trip they had to line up five people to cover all she does at that school.. lol I wonder why she does not get a five people salary. shirley
