That's why I like to raise most of my food if I can. At least I know what I've done to it.

Linnea, I'm in full agreement with you. So pleased to know others here feel the same way about the toxic
soup we've been sold. One by one we can make a change. Tell the purveyors of poisons we aren't having any,, thank you very much!

Thanks Linnea for the reminders. And everyone should be mindful of what they put on our little ones. Shampoos, lotions, soaps..... most are loaded with toxins and it is very unfair to expose them to all this crap before they can even know what it is or what it does. Almost half of our elementary school students are on some form of medication for behavior problems and sometimes it is just for lack of the ability to concentrate. I think this is in direct correlation to the amount of artificial coloring, preservatives, chemicically treated clothing, etc. that they are exposed to from birth. Mothers should not wear perfumes or lotions either as they are immersing their babes in the toxic stuff. I could go on... but I will spare you my rant.....

First of all, bless you folks for not thinking I'm a green weirdo.

2nd, I got a trade of historic NoIDs today from an eBay gal I have become plant buddies with. The herbaceous plants she shipped were very dried out and I am trying to revive them, but the rhizomes look lovely! I will plant a section called "Alexandra's Garden and put her NoIDs in it. I bet i can ID them eventually.

I will have to find a tactful way to suggest she use wetter paper towel before bundling roots of herbaceous plants in the baggie.

I may still order late bloomers. Mine are done for the year except one miniature from my cousin that looks like it has a rebloom!

Linnea, I don't think you are a green weirdo but where do they spray wheat with roundup to dry it out? I have never heard of this. It is sprayed and wicked for weeds before harvest (while the wheat is still green) to kill the weeds. It is on rare occasion sprayed after it has completely matured to kill any late weeds because it could not be harvested on time due to weather. The insurance companies force this practice so they do not have to zero out the fields and pay a total loss to the farmer.
I am not going to argue the point that mass amounts of roundup are not bad - they are!
GMO is another subject all together. Some of our seeds crops are becoming so genetically modified that it scares me. They are roundup ready so even roundup won't kill them. The pollination is different, there is a lot to it and it is just weird and scary.

I don't remember where I read about the wheat. What I do find interesting and sad, because I love to bake bread, is that American wheat and rye often makes my face break out and gives me a headache. I can eat German rye just fine.

Hmm, that is strange! What worries me is Japan is buying all of the best wheat from the Heartland. They want our wheat and they are buying our wheat elevators and terminals to be sure they get it. I scares the heck out of me but what do you do?
There is one small flour mill in Okeene Oklahoma that still uses locally grown wheat and mills wheat in smaller batches and produces excellent flour. I get my flour from them, fresh off the line when I am there. I am lucky, they just give it to me. I am there all the time delivering wheat so I know them well!

So I was happy and had some mixed feelings when my order arrived today. The person I ordered from had a bit of a rough year so a few of the rhizomes were on the smallish side. I think everbody had kind of a rough year and didn't hold it against her. She refunded part of my money and sent me a couple cool bonus's. I ended up with Rainbow High, Crow's Feet, Doe Z Doe, 3 small rhizomes of Daring Deception and Howler. Two bonus iris's are Adriatic Waves and Company Red. Thumbs up Hurray!

Well, as long as they try to make good on their part I think you can trust them long term. And it sounds like you have some really good irises. smiles

Oooooo! Smiling I love Crows Feet.

I got an eBay order from tatiana303; of the mistaken Amas NoID, Snugglebug, Florentina and Barr's Cottage Maid. They were beautifully packed without a worm or rot. The rhizomes are pristine! I gave her all 5 stars in the feedback rating.

Home from an arts and Crafts Fair over the weekend and found that we got several more boxes of plants!

Wowza ! - TB Dinner Talk and Coffee Shop arrived from an ebay seller called Country Delights - and they were huge! Not cheap, but beautiful ,clean rhizomes . I'd buy from this seller again, and she has many of the ones I want.

Tom kindly sent me a whole boxful of red Cat's Eyes, a smaller iris that I haven't grown, but I plan to have them all over the place!
Thanks Tom!

I also bought some white bee balm that arrived today in good condition. I'll add them to my red and purple bee balm. Also from ebay.

It's hot right now so I'll plant this evening. So exciting!

I'm glad they made the trip OK, Jan, I have an order with Country Delights too, so I'm glad you have a good outcome from your order. I had to have Chocolate Ecstacy and they seemed to be the only place I could find it, so OF COURSE I had to order a few more to ride along with it. Sammies Jamies (one of my dog's in the memorial plot was named Sammie) and a couple more too. I got an e-mail from Fed Ex, and UPS that I have a package coming, so I will have some planting to do. I have every thing planned for but will have to deal with the bonuses
