Last of the daylilies at mom's, Ruby Stella. A 3-fer and I noticed a half dozen prolifs to work with. This was a Mother's Day gift in '06/'07 and was slow to take off. I moved it around the garden and moved the plant (and a few others) to my house when mom listed her old place. First flower planted here at her new place. Lackluster performance but dividing it into 4 seemed to be just what it needed to put on a good show.

Thanks Mike. It certainly isn't even close to 48". BUT, these were some of the ones here when we bought the place. When we moved in, they looked sad, sad, sad, very pale foliage & sort of just hanging on by sheer dl willpower. I did feed them last year & they did bloom last year but all of them put on a really improved showing this year as opposed to last. I've been feeding them this year. None of them re-bloomed last year & that's why I was so surprised when this one did this year. I don't think they really got the proper care from the previous owners. Therefore, I don't think I have seen the full potential from any of them as yet. It could possibly get very tall but I don't think I'll know that for a year or two yet. It bloomed twins yesterday. Actually, that's not correct --- the bloom from the day before STAYED OPEN & another bud opened so there were 2 perfect blooms on it. I could not believe what I was seeing! But I saw it with my own eyes. And that was a murderously hot day when we broke 100. I was not going to go out taking photos in that heat. Hilarious! Hilarious! There's a nice fat bud on it now that will open tomorrow or the next day so I will surely look for the streaking on the back side. I would love to be able to give it a name! Thumbs up

Gee, just looking at the daylily pictures on the right that are being posted to the database, I love some of those names like MASSIVE DYNAMIC and FRINGE SCIENCE -- both terms from one of my absolute favorite TV series -- FRINGE! Just had to comment on that... and both of those daylilies are absolutely gorgeous too!

@Hazelcrestmikeb

My yellow noid bloomed again today & I checked for the streak & there was none. Sooo, I'll just continue to enjoy it under the name I dubbed it, which is Lemons & Chocolate. Thumbs up

Oh my goodness. What a wonderful display of gorgeous daylilies. I have been staining a retaining wall surrounding a shady area around my house which I call my 'Meditation Garden'. The weather has been wonderful here in VT., hot and humid today in the 80's. I also am beginning the cleanup by cutting scapes back this morning as I begin the process of closing up the garden for winter. Still have a lot of buds ready to bloom, but the dreaded 'weatherguy' says that by tomorrow night temps will drop down into the high 40's. Omg, not ready for that.

Jan...Good to see Bullfrog Kisses blooming. I understand that frustration. I also like your New Paradigm. Very nice Hurray!

Char, Mike, and Ann splendid blooms. The dog days of August have been kind to us this year.

God granted my wish, and looked what bloomed this morning, after pouring a gallon of water laced with Miracle Grow last evening.....a duo. Hurray! Hurray!

GASKINS SDLG. I know I have posted this one before but talk about performance, this sdlg. is the 'little engine that could. Blooming for 5 weeks, and now reblooming with 2 scples loaded with buds. Bold and gaudy, standing out in the garden with its bright colors.

Some end of Summer garden shots.

Same here. I saw so many pretty daylilies. I do really like that seedling Linda Sierra x Lavender Reflections though!

Mike, I like your picture of Classic Rose. It is a late bloomer here too, but has been done for a couple of weeks now. Wish it were taller, but I like the fragrance of it.

I agree They all look beautiful! Love Emerald Dream and your garden views Alex. The last blooms in the garden are really showing their stuff with the heat and humidity that we've had the past few days. I'm in garden clean up mode, so much to do in so little time, and haven't downloaded images from the camera in a few days. Have some later bloomers to add to this thread as soon as I get a chance!

Thank-you Betty and Vicki. Thank You! The weird part about this sdlg., which I love, is that during the summer when it's really hot, the bloom is red with a fine white line around the edge. As soon as the nights turn cool, it loses the red color and the white edge, and turns this bold hot pink color. I also love the fact that the sdlg. opens on cold mornings, every time.

Finally downloaded images last night, surprised at how many were stuck in there. I'm not just doing daylily images I'm trying to remember to get images of other plants too as I'm doing the clean up of the beds. Starting to find rebloom scapes on some cultivars and also on seedlings. Not sure they will bloom well, by the time they start opening we are likely to be getting temps close to frost. A few images from the past...week or so...

Albion Moonlight, my last to ffo this year on 8/26 and one of my favorite of the crepe textured cultivars I grow.

Coach's Bag of Bones, last bloom for this year.

Life on Bajore, keeps surprising me, just when I think it is done it pops open another bloom.

Share a Little, still blooming perfectly formed little blooms. Doesn't seem to be as pink as previous years, maybe the cool temps are playing with the color...

Waves Become Wings, a late bloomer with ffo 8/19 and also showing lighter color this year.

Waterpocket Fold, this one will be blooming until frost, beautiful 4 way branching with lots of buds to go.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure, another that will bloom until frost, super budbuilder!!!

Boiled Shrimp, odd name but it fits Smiling pretty blend of shrimp pink and tangerine.
