Chicken soup night. Or Split pea soup. Both of them are my favorites. Yummy! Thumbs up

I had a smoothie, does that count?

Green Grin!

In fact, I was thinking about soup, but got called out on an emergency run for catfood (long story, the store is a ways off, my cousin got the wrong kind, it needed to be exchanged, blabbety.) So when I got back from all that, and cats fed and stuff put away, a smoothie sounded easy and good. Plus, it's warm here still!

Though it did rain more, and I'm thinking it will rain off and on all night, from the looks of it.

We had slightly over a quarter inch of rain and today is overcast and drippy-moist, though it hasn't actually rained yet. It's forecast to rain some more, though.

I got the compost carried out and worked in, between drops.

It is really raining hard again. This is better than snow, but I am not really a gloomy day person. I like to sleep and eat when it rains.

Still gray and rainy here too. I hope my little succulents are all right with this change in the weather.

Does anyone know how to measure the moisture in snowfall? I mean, with rain it's like, oh we got a half inch, the rain gauge shows a half inch, and I know the plants got a half inch.

But if we get, say, two inches of snow, how does that translate into water-inches? Anyone know? I bet there is some kind of rough conversion table somewhere! Even though snow is variable in how much water a certain depth contains, there should be some general ratio, right?

Great site Cat. I thought it was one foot to one inch, I am glad I did not give that as an answer. Thanks so much.

It rained here again yesterday until about noon. We were invited to a neighbor's OUTDOOR engagement party where the food, drinks and live music were wonderful. The sun came out for a little while just before dark when the party really started getting good. I'm glad that I found all my silk long underwear, down outerwear and fur lined boots so that I could last til the end of the party (3 am). Gotta love those rednecks...their food (pig roast), their music and their friendly hospitality.

Rained here too, yesterday, but not really a measurable amount. Very overcast and rain is in the forecast for several days.

We had the heat on briefly for the first time today (but I had to turn it off, got way too hot for me!)

I hate days like this, it is half a holiday. Half the places I need to work with or do business with are closed for Columbus Day and it is cloudy again. I need sunshine and either a full holiday or none at all. I keep thinking I will run into town to the bank. No, they are closed. How about the Post Office. No, they are closed. How about the grocery store..blah they are open but who wants to shop on Monday. The sun hopefully will come out tomorrow.

I can see where that would be hard JB!

For me, I am so grateful for an extra day to get things done and to relax before going back to work tomorrow. This time of year is heavenly with all the 3 day weekends!

I'm half expecting "the boys" -- my young cousins -- to come over and help with eating this chocolate cake from the birthday, but haven't heard from them so far. (They have a holiday from school.)

As for the weather, it's a mix of sun and clouds and maybe rain here too. My problem with that is the little sickly sedum I am trying to revive. It managed to get too wet in recent rain even though I *thought* I had it well protected! Sighing!

And on a day like today, I want to put it in the sun but soon as I do, clouds! Maybe rain! Grumbling

Ya, okay, we have a prediction of 100 percent chance of rain tomorrow, involving heavy thunderstorms. There may be some of that starting around 2, 3 am, so I just went out and moved all the tiny semps in thelr lovely little pots into the dark shed. Where, at least, it is dry.

I figure one day in the dark won't hurt them but being flooded would.

The sick one is already in here, on a shelf in the window so, fingers crossed!

I do hope it really rains! Nothing else out there will suffer in a downpour. and the land needs it badly. (Clearly, I don't believe the weather page's one hundred percent really truly means 100%.)
