If I get any rain, I'll try not to think about sneezing. I usually think of a very small rain event as "spit"....not any better image there, either!

We've had intermittent "5 acre" light showers for the past 3 out of 4 days. Dee & I drove to Liberty, Tx,... Sat morn,....and you can see a distinct transformation in the landscape that starts around Cleveland (going southeast from Willis) - that being changing from brown to lush green the farther southeast/south one goes.....obviously the folks around Liberty have been receiving regular rain.....at least recently.
We're still watering just about every day......since the 5 acre showers are soon evaporated.

There is an oil pipeline located several hundred yards behind our property......and a few days ago there was an inspection crew excavating 6' deep pits for the inspectors to be able to inspect the entire circumference of sections of the pipe....having said all that,....my point is....that even as deep as 5 feet,....the sand is powdery dry...........no wonder we're seeing so many trees turning brown/dying in our area. I've decided to wash the car & truck and leave them exposed to the weather with the windows rolled down.....that should work, huh?

It didn't work for me last time, Lee, but who knows, maybe it will this time. My car needs washing, just don't think I can get to it today!

Lee, I think it was the threats to wash my car yesterday. Maybe the heavens weren't sneezing so much as snorting with laughter?

Where the area being saturated by rain is about 5 acres worth......moving along slowly...momentarily passing precious water to a small area.....Like the waterin' can of Heaven just made a pass across the area in view.........Just feet away from and along the saturated edge of that path.....is a relatively "parched" area there and beyond.....the rain usually delivered in large silver dollar-size drops Big Grin

Dee says that sounded so good....it's probably should be in Webster's....sounds like Texas brag to me

You could just as easily judge one to be a 10 acre shower....to make it more colorful Whistling

I'm just sayin'........ Angel

Oh...that's really good! And I agree with Dee, but I told you before you should be writing about growing up in TX before it grew up.
You have a way with words...
We get 2" rain here lately ...a drop every two inches....and come to think of it...we haven't had that in a long time.

Now that the threads are paged, you don't have to start a new page.

In fact, since creating that feature I've had many forums ask me to combine their numbered threads back into one super-thread.

There are threads here with around 6,000 posts. I propose that rather than starting new threads, we just keep them going. Dialup users have no problems with pages, and it is much less confusing to new people to just look at one thread rather than a whole bunch of numbered threads.

I didn't know that. I was worried about the dial-ups. Guess we'll press on.... and I'll go look at the old threads again.

The weather guy is saying we may get a little rain staring tomorrow.... In the morning, I'm going to wash my car to help the cause. In central Austin, there are tree trimmers cutting huge limbs off the oaks, etc. because they're not getting enough water and becoming dangerous. We have one on the side of the house that we never water and it has done fine all these yrs. This yr, however, I think we have to help it. Need to get one of those bubblers for the end of the hose, I guess. I'm afraid I'll forget to turn the water off and go to bed! Neighbor down the hill would not appreciate that....

That's my fear also with the sprinklers...I've done that too many times. When I get the timer on the hoses, then maybe I won't worry!

I use the alarm on my phone to time things now. I usually have it with me or at least in the same room. But leaving a hose running, even on low, for a few hours is a little risky.
It was sprinkling a little rain in north Austin. it's gone now...sooo close. Maybe tomorrow.....I can wish!
I looked at photos of the brugs from last year. They were blooming in early June. Except for a few sporadic blooms, mine have yet to put on a show. And yet I keep watering 'em.... I cut most all of the salvias back this morning. I figure they will come back when it gets a little cooler or wetter. Roses look scraggly, but blooming.
Tomorrow's another day...right?
