Yes, I sure do, thanks to you!

Do you think we could bombard the World Orchid Conference with a petition to stop the boffins changing names?

It was 50 degrees F here this morning on the deck! I am glad I moved a lot of the Orchids yesterday inside, it "smells" like Fall!

Oooh, I'd love to see 50º in the morning! It's already 84ºF here. Sad I don't like real cold weather but it sure would be nice to have some cooler temp's for awhile ... unfortunately we probably won't see 50's until late November.

Pretty nice outside here this morning, still in the high 70's and a breeze. I can take this. Afternoons, though? Yuck!

I can take the wonderful October weather after the first cold front gets down this far - 80's and 60's suits me just fine. Perfect orchid weather, too, it makes the Phals start putting on spikes!

I went to church this morning and it felt pretty nice outside. Unfortunately, I had to have the A/C in my truck cranked to the max on the way home. With the rain and all, my outdoor plants are growing like crazy. My mango, leeche and palms are exploding in growth. So are the weeds and vines. I've hired a young fellow to help me keep up with it all. Best money I ever spent.

I took advantage of some nice and sunny weather today and temps in the seventies and moved more Orchids. - see the Growing Area thread, I added more pictures. The greenhouse is slowly getting more crowded. Smiling
You might the remember the Eulophia euglossa from a couple of months ago, it is still blooming, but slowly winding down.

Anyone know the care required for Jackfowlieara? I was outside this afternoon playing with plants and cleaning my back porch and deck and amidst a bunch of plants I found an orchid that I got about five or six years ago from Marble Branch Farms. More than half of it was dead but I managed to trim away tons of dead roots etc. and save a little healthy part. I've searched the internet but didn't find any information at all about it so I'm wondering if the name has perhaps changed like so many others? I have an old list of orchid abbreviations and see that Jkf. stands for Jackfowlieara (Synonym - Iwangarra) but I'm not sure how to care for this type so figured I'd ask here. If the tiny thing survives it will be years before it's big enough to bloom I'm sure.

The label reads: Jkf. Appleblossom 'Lemon Pie' x C. Horace 'Maxima'

That's a wonderful 'find' Lin. I have an Iwanagara Appleblossom that is a beautiful plant and a generous bloomer. Mine suffered a severe setback last year with a case of black rot but is recovering nicely now.

I think the care will be the same as you would give any Cattleya - bright light, a little morning sun, would do fine on a mount or in a basket up in your orchid tree. But don't put it too far out of sight, you're going to want to see that one bloom! Here's mine - year before last.

btw Lin, I am not a good Gardener at all. I am just happy to keep my borders somewhat weed - free......
Regarding your Iwanagaara/ Jackfowlieara - I would ask your Floridians for better details, but around here in Nj, my plant just came in from a Summer vacation outside, where it got plenty of sun/good light, lots of fertilizer and daily watering if it didn't rain.
It got temperatures all Summer long between 70 ish at night and daytime temps ranging from 70-95 degr F. Now in the greenhouse, it will get plenty of light, I placed it on a top shelf. Minimum temps will be 60 degr. F. in the Winter and I water daily.

Another one where the tag has vanished. I have its name in my orchid catalogue, but which one?

White Coelogyne with yellow lip. There would be a few possibilities.

I am trying to narrow it down....

Ursula, there is a COELOGYNE FLACCIDA in my catalogue - could that be it? Also there is a C. ELATA but my notes say for it "White with red".

Yes, Glen. Coel. flaccida could be it. It has the square lip, just like the one in your pictures.

The Coel. elata/stricta has a different lip shape?
