If you can find info on a plant's dormancy response it opens up all kinds of new possibilities. Smiling If the plant isn't geared to go (winter) dormant, then I'd guess you'd need a cold frame. Me, I'm not geared to clear one of those off every time it snows! Hilarious!

I really should have put my zone 6 ground orchids under the house last winter, too, but I didn't, and they're gone. Lesson learned.

I hate those kinds of lessons.

Are ground orchids the same as toad lilies? I seem to remember seeing that name associated with them.

Pink muhly grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris) would look really awesome with the Sunsparkler sedums. And it's a southeastern native, too. (Not sure how it would do very much further north; I didn't check that bit.)

Yeah so right now I am looking through the list of lilies offered in the group buy, and looking at the potentially available space, and thinking "morning sun, afternoon shade. Morning sun, afternoon shade." And wondering where I might have those exact conditions, and realizing the one place I originally intended for lilies is way too small for the lilies I want to buy because there are many more of them, and I can actually afford to do that since I don't have to pay til next month.......

Anyone else here in on that buy? It's so hard to choose!

I think I'm all bulbed out right now! However, I will need to plant the ones I've obtained--just looking for a day when I finally have some time. Sighing!

Oh but these are for spring! And, yeah, I know what you mean, Robin. But here, we just don't have enough lilies. I aim to remedy that.

I received a box today, and that just might do me for the year. Spring planting summer bulbs just doesn't work as well here...this lovely clay ground is wet and slimy till June...at least. Right now though, it's dry enough to dig. Smiling

Kyla, just checked my borage plant and it was too far gone to have anything that looked like a seed! *Blush* So sorry! Sad

Well, Chelle, that's too bad. Sad

Catmint, thanks for checking, and no worries, I'll buy some from Horizon at some point over the winter.

I went out and walked around with my lily lust list and decided that I'll be able to plant a few of each and I will just have to find places for the extras. 'Twill be hard. Green Grin!

Kyla (or anyone else), I have some extra Oriental/Trumpet lily bulbs right now, if you'd like some. I have one each of Conca d'Or, Honeymoon, Lavon, and Holland Beauty.

OTs are really tall, right?

*bites nails*

Catmint, maybe I can trade you some of the extras of what I get for a couple of those?

Lemme think on this....

yeah, they're about 3' tall.

No need to trade me anything. I have a few too many and they need homes.

Great offer, Catmint. Thumbs up

Me, I'm going to toss my boxful in the ground tomorrow and then start putting things to bed for the winter.

Trick-or-treating here tomorrow evening is going to be miserably cold I think, so I'm going to try to be warm in between times. Rolling my eyes.

Chelle, what is it a box full OF?

I keep forgetting about the whole trick or treating thing. I guess I'll go ahead and be here at the door, with candy. It might be fun. We've definitely got the candy! And it's not meant to be terribly cold...here. You stay warm!

Catmint, I'm sending you a treemail about your lily extras. Smiling
