Irisarian, How nice that you met my grandmother. That must have been a long time ago. Do you happen to have one of her catalogs or have any idea how I might be able to get one?

Hi Gerie. I can't help you with your search, but I wanted to welcome you to our group. Welcome! And I wanted to compliment the lovely dapple grey in your atavar!! We actually have quite a few horse people here -- somehow beautiful horses and beautiful Irises strike a similar chord in some of us.

I wish you success in your search for your Grandmother's Irises. Smiling

Afraid that we don't have a catalog. she encouraged us on reblooming SDBs, but we stopped that because of weather issues.

Muddymits, Thank you for the compliment on my horse, Jasper. I'm just a backyard horse enthusiast who does occasional trail riding. I've had Jasper for about a year. He is "full-of-it" and keeps me entertained. It's nice to know there are so many others out there that just can't seem to keep clean between their plants and animals. I love your user name, "Muddymits". I know what you mean! Smiling

What *brand* of horse is he, Gerie? He must be fairly young to have such dark dappling. Mine are American Saddlebreds and American Warmbloods (ASB/Warmblood cross). Tom breeds and raises paints. Pam has horses and works at a Dressage barn. Lucy used to have horses. Who am I forgetting?

Thanks for the compliment on my user name -- it's totally appropriate, I assure you!!! Hilarious!

Welcome to the group Gerie! Good luck with your collection. I do not have any that were developed by your Grandmother, but I will keep an eye out for any that can be added to your list.

Horses and iris are a good combination!

I never had the opportunity to own horses...but would have loved to. I did, however, have 2 llamas! But have passed on since then, and their pasture is now becoming my iris field!

Since that is my picture of Llama Mama, I guess I should trade that one to you!.

I soooooo envy you all with lots of land to expand your collection. That means more weeding, but that is a trade off I would except.

Muddymitts, Jasper is not registered. He is probably a quarter horse. He's built like one and acts like one. His previous owners said he was a quarter horse and that he was almost black when he was younger. He's small, about 14.5 hands. If I was told the truth, he's about 6 now, and acts it. "Teenage" boy to the max!

I also have a Standardbred. His name is Silver. I'm actually trying to find a good home for him. He is an awesome horse, and I like him a lot, but I have a total of 3 and it's really more than I can handle. Jasper is my horse, Silver is my husband's. My husband prefers to ride Kira, our older Friesian ministry horse that we use for kids and inexperienced riders. I take care of all of them, including hoof trims. I would like to reduce my work load.

Here's a link to Silvers Craigslist advertisement. https://shoals.craigslist.org/... Most folks here are interested in gaited horses or quarter horses. Let me know if you have any tips for finding a good home where he will be well cared for and used.

tveguy,

I know what you mean about loosing counts. I have a 22 acre hobby farm. I think I have 27 critters right now counting horses, cows, chickens, a cat and dog. Do boys count as critters?
