I accidentally broke off one of the standards, but it allows for a better view to see what the flower is like.

I don't know the parentage. I good guess is that one of it's parents was Deborah Dances because I found it near that cluster.

Paul -- did you check see if it has PBF?

I checked down the stem as far as I could & didn't see any pbf. I would call standards golden yellow, but you would have to describe the fall markings. difficult to see. Get the name first & then worry about description. You have the pod parent so its name X unknown would do for parents,

I have purchased Witch of Endor but it has not bloomed for me yet so I have no pictures. Here is the description I have: (B. Miller, R. 1977) TB, 38" (97 cm), EM & RE Ruffled black-crimson with small white semi-circle at hafts with black-crimson tracery; golden beard tipped black-crimson. Rainbow Promised X Cayenne Capers. B Miller 1978.

Interesting to see Cayenne Capers in Witch of Endor's parentage. Maybe my unidentified spotted red is Cayenne Peppers. Grandmother would have had it in her garden to hybridize from.

I googled PBF. If that's Purple Based Foliage and if that means the leaves are purplish near the rhizomes then neither my new seedling or the cluster I have labeled as Witch of Endor have PBF. I do have a few with PBF. The spotted red pictured above in this thread has pronounced Purple Based Foliage.

PBF is purple based foliage.

I studied the lingo a little more this evening. I think my seedling may be considered a Variegata in color/pattern. What do ya'll think?

Her is a description ov varigata that is a little more specific.." VARIEGATA - yellow or near-yellow standards with darker falls of brown or purple . Here is a link with pictures of some varigatas: http://www.rainbowfarms.net/pr...

I lack the experience of most of the others... but based on what I've been able to gather your iris would probably be called a bi-tone..."BITONE - standards and falls are different shade of the same color; falls are usually darker shade"

Congratulations! It is lovely! Thumbs up

I would not call it a true variegata as there are just markings on the falls. See MTB 'Isabella Anna' as the classic variegate.
