I looked through the master historic list and found the following listed as available at the nurseries listed below each Iris:

*Witch of Endor-
Blue J, bluebird haven, C&T, Iris City, Exline, Greenhorn Valley, Horton Iris, Lakeside, Williamson Farms
*Resurrection Story-
Exline, Greenhorn Valley Irises
*Ruth of Moab-
Exline, Matthews Iris Garden
*Uriah the Hittite
C&T, Daylily Haven Iris Gardens, & Matthews Iris Garden

I believe this list is several years old, so I'm not sure about current availability. I went through both your list and woofie's list.

Has anyone already mentioned contacting Jean Richter with HIPS? She may have more info on who's got what ..

Hope that helps, Geri.

Henhouse,

Thank you! That helps, a lot. I've sent the list that ya'll have helped me compile to Winterberry. Once I see what I can order from them, I think I will send what remains to Exline, then keep going as such through the vendors ya'll have suggested. I complied a complete list (I'm having to use an MS Access Database Sticking tongue out ) to keep up with all the iris I am concerned about:

I have 12 that I took from Grandmother's garden years ago that are unidentified
I have 17 of Grandmother's introductions that I have managed to collect and at least 90% confirm
I have 16 more that I hope I have of Grandmother's introductions that I have purchases but not confirmed
I have a list of 30 of Grandmother's introductions that I am definitely seeking to purchase

So, looks like I've got roughly 70 iris that I am concerning myself with. Whew! Blinking

Look what I found! This is Grandmother with her five daughters. My mom, Dixie, is the baby Grandmother is holding so my guess is this is Summer, 1946. I looks to me like they are in a vegetable garden. This is probably at their family homestead farm in Clovis, New Mexico.

I think it is so nice that you have taken up your grandma's passion, and are trying to preserve her creations.

Gerie, are you aware than you can create a list of your irises right here on ATP, complete with the photos in the database?

Can anyone interpret iris descriptions for me? Here is an example I have: (B. Miller, R. 1984) TB, 36" (91 cm), E & RE Light lavender, paler spot under light yellow beard; mild fragrance. Rainbow Promised X Lovely Again.
Garden of the Enchanted Rainbow 1984.

I may be posting pictures of this flower soon. It is blooming with two different clusters from two different suppliers and are somewhat different in appearance. My gut feeling is environment causing slight changes, though they are only a few feet apart in the same garden. One is closer to a lot of mint plants and our AC heat pump unit which waters with condensation output. Any tips on how to know if two blooms are from the same genetic plant even though they are slightly different in color and distinction of markings?

Garden of the Enchanted Rainbow 1984.

(B. Miller, R. 1984) ---- It was registered by Bernice Miller in 1984.
TB ---- Tall Bearded Iris
36" (91 cm) ---- Registered height is 36 inches (about average for a TB)
E & RE ---- Blooms early in the TB season and also reblooms, probably in the fall
The color is pretty self explanatory - it's a lavender flower with a yellow beard and the color is a bit lighter below the beards
It was introduced by a nursery called - Garden of the Enchanted Rainbow in 1984.

Well, I took a look at past pictures of Dorcas Lives Again from Winterberry. It looks more like the current blooms of Dorcas Lives Again from C&T.

Also I have pictures of previous blooms from another cluster I have of Dorcas Lives again from Sherry Sleep that look more like the current blooms of the same from Winterberry.

I also found plenty of verifying pictures online.

Therefore, I am going to declare it a match and a verify that I have the correct Dorcas Lives Again. Hurray!

Perhaps you have already looked but there are 2 pictures on the Iris Encyclopedia. Both show a darker lavender iris...not a light lavender as the description states. Shrug!
