Elaine the scapes are short and thickish. They come out of a sort of envelope.

I am stumped, Glen! Such a gorgeous plant. I would like to post your plant on my facebook page, a couple of my fb friends are Orchid judges, they might know better.

Hmm, so it blooms like a cattleya but looks like a laelia . . . I am clueless.

Are the blooms fragrant?

A nice person responded on Fb - a first suggestion was a Schomburgkia x Cattleya bowringiana. Roberta was also pointing towards C. bowringiana.

Wow! Ursula, I had no idea that Vandas of that size would bloom! Is this an older 'miniature' plant ? Or a baby/teen ?

I'm pretty sure that is Cattleya x guatemalensis (x guatemalensis is a natural primary hybrid). There are so many variations that of course there is no way to know, but it is pretty close.

Looking good, Melissa!

Tara, I was surprised to see it blooming on such a small plant. I think this is a young plant and is supposed to be a medium sized Vanda, not a miniature.

Yes, I do think that's the case...I did a search for this one, and found it to be called a medium size. http://www.orchidspecies.com/v...
It sure is a beauty! Big Grin

I'll have to search out more medium size...No greenhouse means wintering indoors... Sighing!

Very nice little Vanda there, Ursula.

While misting this morning, I found this guy hiding under some leaves. This is Miltassia Golden Spider 'Copius'

The Tampa Orchid Club meets tomorrow where I hope to retrieve my ribbon winners. I think I'll show my big new Vanda.

Will I go with Cattleya x guatemalensis (x guatemalensis is a natural primary hybrid) from Melissa?

Another one for you. I have lost the tag for this too. It is deciduous.

My first thought is Dendrobium farmeri, "Eggs Sunny side up" Smiling

later on - thinking about the fairly slender canes in your picture….hmm…..

Glen, how big is the plant? Are those canes really small or are they long? ( if pretty Kitty is a good size comparison, they are not too long) If they are smallish - there is Dendrobium loddigesii? Loddigesii makes eventually creeping mats.

Definitely Den loddigesii. It weaves around on the mount on skinny canes and makes a carpet. Here is a reference from my inventory. The large photo is mine and the specimen is from the internet. Mine has been growing for 6 years and is now the size of the specimen.

Here are some more blooms. The Den dichaeoides is a neat little guy. The Aerangis luteo alba var rhodosticta is the third one in my collection. This one shingles much nicer than the other two. So even.
