What a lovely show for mid-month, Ursula. That big Lemon Chiffon sure makes a splash with the little purple Den leaning in for contrast.

I'm partial to the lovely rich color of the Luz del Dia 'Kiilani' for sure. Can't tell you how often I've been on the verge of buying 'Sharry Baby' . One of these days . . . There are just so many orchids I want.

thanks.

Melissa, this particular Aerangis biloba is probably a 3N, it came many years ago from Hoosier Orchids. The flower parts are a bit more filled out on this plant and occasionally I see an extra petal. But, my regular biloba has really pretty blooms too.

Elaine, the Sharry Baby is a very easy plant to grow and you will surely love the mainly Chocolate scented blooms.

Good Morning. I have paph Moon Stone blooming again this beautiful morning. Temp will be in 80's today. But I'm in the storage room getting tubs of stuff out of the condo and out of sight. I really accumulated to much in just 1 and 1/2 years here. Can't take pictures for the MLS listing until I get it looking good. Rather be playing on the porch today.

I don't know how you grow paph. Bert. I haven't even tried to grow any for several decades, but just remember that I killed all I tried to grow. Congratulations on your successes.

Yes, love that pretty Paph, Bert. Nice going. We have been missing the Paph Princess, @Bree for months now. Wonder what's happened to her?

I still have orchids camping in the yard, and am working on a new display for them when they do migrate back into the cage. This wonderful weather keeps me outside a LOT! Lows in the 60's at night and highs in the low 80's, how much better can it get?

Sounds perfect to me!! I think we might have the first frost tomorrow night.
@Bree, I was thinking too that we haven't seen her in a while.
Roberta, your Paph is lovely! Lovey dubby good job!

Regarding the easy of blooming Slipper Orchids, in my hands Phrags are a lot easier than Paphs. Reblooming Paphs is a hit and miss for me.

Hey y'all! Slightly off topic.

Is anyone interested in Mc tibicinis or wendlandii? I have one of each fairly large and blooming sized. I'd like to sell them to make some room. I'd take $10 each plus shipping.

Sure, I'd be interested in both. I've been looking for a Mcp wendlandii and would not at all mind having another tibicinis. I'll send you a Tree-Mail.

A couple odds and an ends here today -
I realized I haven't posted my Platystely stenostachya in a long time. This plant is now for many years always in bloom. When it fell off the mount some time ago, I mounted it horizontally to a good piece of driftwood, it is slowly attaching to the wood.
The blooms are in the mm range/ ridiculously tiny.
dappled light and water daily.

Nsd / Neosedirea is a hybrid of Neofinetia falcata and Sedirea japonica. ( yes, I know the name has changed..... Rolling my eyes. , but since when is Sedirea now a Phalaenopsis? I refuse! So there, I feel so much better now. Smiling

Oh, so pretty, and I'll bet the Neosedirea smells fabulous, too.

Congratulations on joining the ranks of name refusers. Even Jim refuses to give up Schomburgkia, so we all have our limits, right?

I'm sure if you asked any group of orchid enthusiasts they'd mostly agree that the old names will be around until the old orchid growers die off.

I'm also sure that Sedirea wasn't a Phalaenopsis until some boffin (which is a British term for a scientist geek) decided to look at it under an electron microscope . . . wish he hadn't.

Nice show, Ursula, and long live Schomburgkias!!

I think I am getting a new truck tomorrow. I'm moving up to the 4 door model so I can take more folks to Apopka.

While moving my orchids inside (mounted ones first and now the BS ones) I found a surprise sitting high up on a shelf in the oak trees. The is L. perrinii 'Big Buggah' AM/AOS (unless there's been a name change!) and this is the first time it has bloomed. Another plant is in bud, so I will at least have some color for a while. Hopefully, with this cool weather, the blooming time will be extended. It is fragrant too.

regarding the Sedirea - it probably didn't fit wherever the Boffins ( love that word!!) wanted to squeeze it, so where do we put it now… Oh the Phal drawer had some room left.
