Tonight for dinner we had bbq rib steaks with a nice big salad, the steak was soooo good, DH cooked it perfectly, first time this season, which may well be the last until spring. For dessert I ate 3 of the little Mars chocolate bars leftover from yesterday. Sticking tongue out

I am going to have to figure a way to do a pot roast (and I agree about using chuck for that, by the way.)

Bowl of raspberries for breakfast; they're not as sweet as earlier but having some kind of fresh fruit in the morning just feels good.

Do you have a heavy "Dutch Oven" like pot, Kyla?

Yes, bake in dutch oven or use a crockpot. I like to add potatoes and a quartered onion or two so that it makes a one pot meal. Yummy!!!

Hmm. I thought I responded to this, but guess I got interrupted.

We do have a crockpot! But I've done these successfully in just a soup pot with a good lid. I like to put whole tomatoes, one or two, along with onion, garlic, and bayleaves.

My hesitance is that my cousin doesn't eat meat and I am not sure how much the smell of it cooking for that long might be a problem for her. I have to give this some thought. Smiling

Kyla, you could put the crockpot outside to cook your meat, I do that in the summertime so that I don't heat up the kitchen. nodding

Better bring the crockpot in by dark. Around here the racoons would eat that right up. Rolling on the floor laughing Grumbling

Plenty here to make up for it. But I bet the foxes or possums would get into the crockpot also. Even the stray cats. Nope, crockpot not safe outside around here. Crying Grumbling

I have an electric outlet right outside my back porch door, and the porch is elevated and covered. Be easy to plug one up and keep an eye on it for squirrels. Would want to bring it in before dark as there is no porch light, but I will surely keep it in mind for next Summer. Thumbs up

We have an outlet on the deck so I put it on the table and use a heavy extension cord to reach it. I have never had a problem with the squirrel because those pots do get hot. I would never leave it out after dark, here the bears would probably knock it over and have a lovely evening meal. Rolling on the floor laughing
