I got a nice surprise today woohoo!
My calamondin tree in its happier days have been actively blooming, leafing, fruiting:

Last summer, it suffered badly while I was away, it was among my plants that I thought have died:
Thumb of 2016-10-19/tarev/edf907 Thumb of 2016-10-19/tarev/5e53ce

Have trimmed off the branches and been spritzing it on and off. And today's surprise! It is making a comeback! I guess our weekend rains and comfy cool temps is what it needs!

Recovery in sight! Fingers crossed, I hope it manages to push on those new growth some more before colder temps sets in.

Tarev, Good going.
I read once Calamondin as one of the easiest potted citrus. So have them shortlisted.. if I ever need a citrus. My Meyer lemon experience is not encouraging.
Plant it and they will come.

Yes, I was surprised myself that Calamondin did well here, seeing it thrives in high humidity in my homeland, and that is something I lack here humidity, so I have to water it very often. Too bad I was away most of summer, and just at the peak of our heat waves here too. Really thankful for the recent weekend rains. Just glad to see my tree coming back woohoo! Big Grin

Just a photo update of Calamondin during this winter, with our more frequent rains and temps going down to 30's and 40's overnight. It is surprisingly really enjoying the cold season, a real good comeback:

Albuca sp. Augrabie Hills had me confused a bit, was not sure if it was dying or just dormant:

Our late Fall to Winter forecast is more rains, so I brought it indoors, by our west facing window by the sink. Just giving it gentle watering during this winter, and there is marked improvement finally!

A little false Aralia tree that I feared was dead or dying all winter. I guess it got too cold before it came in, or possibly too dry. It was sharing a pot with some Begonias which continued to look great and bloom, but the bare stems of the little tree were distressing. Periodically I snipped the tip of a branch and found green inside, so I had hope.

Now it is starting to grow new foliage, so happy!!!!!!!! The rock is training one of the branches to not grow so close to the main trunk.

My back from almost dead looking Sulcorebutia rauschii:
Initially acquired in June 2016
Thumb of 2017-06-30/tarev/da0d34

Overwinterered indoors
Thumb of 2017-06-30/tarev/c57d75

April 2017
Looked so whitish pale, the offsets held on, also whitish pale..but it was not squishy, not really sure if it was dead or not, so have put it in shade. We had extended cool down in Spring, so I still held back watering.
Thumb of 2017-06-30/tarev/65d42a

By May 2017, finally I see the offsets tips are turning green, so I gently gave it some water, still in doubt if it will make it:
Thumb of 2017-06-30/tarev/fc05b2

03June2017, temps are warming up, maintaining its position in shade, but have started to give it more water, the tips of mommy plant is showing green growth.
Thumb of 2017-06-30/tarev/287b45

29June2017 - it is doing much better! More alive now..looks like a different plant than before..now I know it is an active summer grower, likes frequent watering at this time.but has to be in shade here since it is too dry.

Tiffany, happy to see your Aralia is getting better too!

Sometimes I get blindsided by the variances of temperatures...so I am happy to see recoveries a lot!

Oh an update too of my Calamondin tree:

Ludisia is still quasi-suicidal, maintaining its' size at 3-4 leaves, but is (drumroll please!) now growing a new stem!

Chrysothemis pulchella was so late in showing up this year, I was trying to reconcile the idea that it was dead. NOT! So excited! I can't seem to manage to increase this plant but soooo glad it's not dead. Everything in this pot looks a little tired. Time to repot & re-arrange a bit.

Everything here outdoors came up really late too. I think the late freeze we had threw a lot of plants off.
