At the bottom of each post is a star, an acorn, a green thumb, the words Quote, and Post # If you click the star, it will save the page for you so you can come back to it later if you want. If you click the acorn, it will ask you how many you want to give the person, and you type in the number. If you click the thumb, it gives the person a green thumb for what they said, or if you click onto a picture, you can give the picture a green thumb too.

Sorry I have been away for a bit. Marilyn ~ That one looks kind of close. Only thing is that we bought our house back in 1993 and it was already established and growing there. I was thinking it may have been hybridized in the early 80's. I looked on AIS database and it looks a lot like 'Cloud Fire'~(Bob Brown)...or maybe along that lineage.

Here is another look at it on a brighter day.

Just goes to show that no how much a flower looks like a picture, you can't ID them by pictures alone! Oh well, I thought I had stumbled across something for you! Shrug!

As for Cloud Fire it doesn't have the lovely lilac glow at the base of the standards and the shoulder color looks to be more gold: http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie...

I guess the search will have to continue... Smiling

Took me a while to find this but here's a photo of a double-bearded iris I saw at Winterberry's a couple years ago. I showed this to Ginny (Spoon) and she said that they this see this occasionally in their garden, but it was the first for me. Unfortunately I didn't get the name of this particular iris plant.

I think it may be missing two standards actually. But it sure has amazing beards. The bees were probably liking the special treatment!

'Bewilderbeast' did the same in my garden in June... Also missing a standard. So much out of kilter this past year.

I had Elizabethan Age with a missing standard and fall. I had never noticed one like it before.

My iris bed is just beginning its decline here in SE Colorado. It put on a spectacular show this May. Thankfully, the recent hailstorms and hard rains in our state have missed us!

My all-time favorite bearded/flounced iris is, of course, 'Mesmerizer'! I totally love its pure white color and unbelievable flounces! :hearts:

And then there's 'Conjuration' with its fuzzy white horns. It is very tall and blooms several at once:

I can't leave out 'Triple Whammy'. It always makes me smile because it's so tall--over 4'--and gawky. I have to stake TW to a tall pole or grow it along my fence. I love its sunny yellow standards and bright white falls with a hint of lavender. Its purple beard extends into an upturning bright purple horn.

Then, there's my favorite peachy-pink Space-ager, 'Jump for Joy'. Its beard is tangerine with an orchid horn or spoon sticking out.

Some people think Space Age iris are strange or just plain weird. I think they're beautiful if somewhat quirky, but always intriguing! Hurray!
